About the property

120 m² house with well shaded summer garden and Green Way on site

La Lampisterie is comfortably fitted and mixes ancient with modern. It is composed of a huge living space with dining room and living room (television, DVD player, wood stove and sofa-bed for 2 extra persons), a fitted kitchen, 2 bedrooms + one in summer (each with 90x200 cm beds), a shower room and a bathroom with toilet. There is an outdoor access to the bedroom which is closed from October to April included. There is a 600 m² wooded garden that is partly fenced. You can hire bike just nearby at the former station.

Within a certain distance around the Green Way, many marked loops drive you from villages to villages while peacefully discovering the architectural heritage and the vineyards.

A large well maintained and fitted public area on the site of the former station creates a green setting with play and relaxing area close to the gîte. When the sun comes out, you will enjoy the shade of a beautiful plane tree in the garden.

Speed train station Le Creusot 30 km with shuttle right on the Place de la Gare.

There is an outdoor independent access to one of the bedroom that is closed from October to April included.

The minimum stay is: 4 in the week-end.

Priority will be given to weekly rentals.

Rentals can be made via Gîtes de France, you can call them and indicate the reference.

About Philippe Martyniak

We are a couple and own the Gîte de La Lampisterie. We live in Lyon with our 2 children where we manage an interior design and illustration agency in Croix Rousse. We often go biking, rollerblading, Nordic skiing and go hiking in family along the canals and the Green Way. We chose this area after discovering the Burgundy region and the Green Way and La Lampisterie seduced us as a holiday house.

Why Philippe Martyniak chose Saint-Gengoux-le-National

We chose this area after discovering the Burgundy region and the Green Way only 1 h30 from Lyon. While we were hiking, biking and rollerblading on the Green Way, we came upon the “For sale” sign and an improvised visit with the owners, a Swiss couple, did the rest.

What makes this cottage unique

The delicate renovation of these beautiful volumes with 4-m high ceilings, an ironwork in the bathroom and simple and relaxing furniture in the functional former style of this place appease us. We hope to share this serenity with our guests and we are sensitive to the preserved architecture of this station house.

Besondere Unterkunft zum rundum wohlfühlen

Die Lampisterie ist ein besonderes Ferienhaus in einer sehr schönen Umgebung. Die Einrichtung ist sehr geschmackvoll und hochwertig. Das Flair eines alten Bahnhofsgebäudes ist wirklich einzigartig und bietet an sich schon sehr viel zu entdecken. Wir haben insbesondere den schönen Garten und die toll ausgestattete Küche intensiv genutzt. Einzig der Grundriss ist vielleicht etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. St. Gengoux ist zwar ein recht kleiner Ort, bietet aber alles für den täglichen Bedarf. Wir haben den Urlaub sehr genossen !

Magnifique !

Nous avons passés vraiment des bonnes vacances dans une ambiance extraordinaire. Il nous n'a pas manqué rien du tout. La Lampisterie est un endroit très calme et sans agitation où on peut laisser son esprit vagabonder.

Les renseignements et conseils donné par Phillipe était d'un grand secour pour nous. On y retournera.

Great location!

This is an excellent Gîte, with great kitchen and cooking facilities, and a pleasant lounge/dining area. The owner was also a pleasure to deal with. However, the 3rd bedroom, which is accessed from outside but without its own bathroom, would not make it ideal for large families wanting to use this room. The Gîte also has a great shower, but the bath is in a semi-open bathroom outside the main bedroom. I recommend that you study the layout of the Gîte carefully. Having said this, the Gite was ideal for the two of us, and the easy access to the Voie Verte right outside the door was fantastic. There is plenty of room for bike storage. We had a great Sunday lunch at the Hotel de la Gare, 50m from the Gîte, before that closed for 2 weeks. We enjoyed our stay at La Lampisterie, but have only awarded four stars for the overall score as there was nowhere to eat at night in St. Gengoux-le-National: we expect to have reduced dining options at this time of year (20th to 27th September), but to have all the restaurants closed in the evening (due to all the restaurant owners taking their holidays at the same time) was a great disappointment, and rendered the Taxe de Sejour somewhat of a joke!
