The home was in a great location. Walking in on the basement level, there were two bedrooms, sitting area and bath. It was very damp and musty. A dehumidifier should be run always. It played havoc with allergies. One of the air conditioners quit within 24 hours, there were a lot of bugs. I would not stay again if updates were not done. The top level was nice, the furniture was new and comfortable.
Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood. Near all Mystic attractions.
Great Location, But More Attention by Owner to Details
Our week long stay was good: fabulous view and location near Mystic town. Nice outdoor deck, brand new living room furniture, and home was overall clean upon check in. Quiet neighborhood. The home is old and needs more work. The steep stairway connecting the two levels is dangerous, some stairs warped and a hand rail that begins 1/3 of the way from the top. Not safe for anyone, but especially treacherous for seniors! The basement shower leaked a bit, and on the final day the upstairs bedroom a/c seeped through to the level below. In addition, the owner needs to communicate better and be more aware of particulars. Weeks before, we asked to move back our check in/check out dates by one day, and she kindly allowed that we could check in Monday vs. Sunday. However, she claimed not to know or have approved our request to extend, when my email request weeks before was clear—including my identifying the specific check out date. As a result, we had to secure a hotel for the last night and she refused to issue a refund. Also, she “allowed” that we could use the washer/dryer for one load of laundry, saying it was only for the use of the housekeepers. However, the VRBO site lists washer/dryer as an amenity for tenant use. In the future, we recommend owner pay more attention to details and be clearer about intent in order to avoid the misunderstandings we experienced.
When I purchased the property at 11 Dubois Drive (VRBO 1120160), I had owned the property at 3 Dubois Drive (VRBO 407003) for more than 5 years. I was well acquainted with the seller of the property at 11 Dubois Drive. She was a 90 year old lady who could easily climb the stairs in the house. I have added a photo of the stairs to our listing for all to see that they are not warped, dangerous or treacherous!
As for your check in/check out dates, I responded to you three times to let you know that the change in schedule was not feasible and explained to you the reasons why it could not be done; guests arriving after your departure and cleaning schedules that could not be altered. You chose to arrive a day later than scheduled and I made alternate arrangements to greet you and your friend to accommodate your request.
The air conditioner in the bedroom had been in place and functioning properly for two years. We noticed that it had be moved from its place after your departure. When you moved the air conditioner, you blocked the drain causing the water to drip inside the house and not outside. Yes, you damaged the ceiling in the room below. The damage has now been repaired.
The entire bathroom on the first floor was newly installed last year. The shower unit that you are speaking of cost $5,000. It is a beautiful shower. You seem to be the only guests that are not happy with it.
As for the washer/dryer, your comments are unfounded and so absurd that I do not feel they are worthy of a response.
I responded, very clearly, to your many communications before, during and after your stay. I cannot be held accountable if you listened to only what you wanted to hear.

We enjoyed the house. Was a great place to stay.
The owner was very nice and great to work with. She was very responsive to our needs. We wanted a dehumidifier and she brought one right away. She wanted to make sure everyone was happy with the house. I recommend the house as a great choice for your stay in New London or Mystic, Connecticut. Also it is convent to Newport, Rhode Island.

Very relaxing stay
My family and I has the best time staying in this home. Margaret was so accommodating to my last minute request. The home was clean spacious and fully stocked. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The grocery store and lots of great restaurants were a hop, skip and a jump away. There was fresh seafood for us to prepare for dinner within walking distance. I ate breakfast on the deck overlooking the water every morning. I was so relaxed in the peaceful quiet and there were many beaches close by--Misquamicut was beautiful. After a busy day out and about we would come back home to stare out over the water and eat ice cream! Margaret was great, answered all of our questions and gave us great info about the local activities. I cannot wait to go back.
