About Mary McDevitt
YOUR HOSTS The person you will interact the most is Mary, our rental manager. She has been working for us for the last 11 years. Besides the usual rental tasks that she does, she loves to assist prospective renters and folks who need to know more about the island before booking, and guide new renters in finding what they need to have a great vacation. She gets great reviews from past renters who needed something-Mary work to meet their need! I’m Ralph, the owner, and I hail from Ohio—would you believe me if I told you I didn’t see the Atlantic Ocean until I was 21 years old? But once I visited Delaware, I was hooked. In 1985, I began building the kind of beachfront getaways I’d want to escape to—ones that make spending time on the shore easy and provide room for the whole family. I’d take suggestions from guests to incorporate to each new home—and each one got better and better. When you stay at The Red Home, you’ll have the personal attention of myself and Mary. We’re here to help you with whatever you need. Welcome to Fenwick Island—our happy place!
Mary McDevitt purchased this House in 2005
Why Mary McDevitt chose Fenwick Island
Designed, Built and Managed With 32 years of Beach Vacation Rental Experience Since 1985 we have built and rented 12 Beach Vacation Rental Homes. We included all that accumulated experience in building the Red Home. One important design we incorporated into this home is a gorgeous open floor, expansive great room. Located on the top floor, the design eliminates barriers and highlights the many water views the home has. Designed for large groups of up to 19, the openness also reduces the barriers to communication and supports great conversations and connecting and interacting with family and/or group of friends. Something we learned in building earlier homes, was that in addition to reducing barriers to connecting with each other, a great vacation also requires folks to retreat, read, or just relax with just one or two other guests. So this home offers 7 different places to have a little "getaway" as well as the entire HUGE mid-level pool deck with a hammock, BBQ, heated swimming pool with pool toys, and a large Hot Tub.
What makes this House unique
What Sets the Red Home Apart from Other Homes? No Other Rental Property in Fenwick Has A Heated Pool and Hot tub (except our Sunset Home and Indian Home - Home away listing nos.- #119156 and #131022.) All of the unique features of this home are shown in the various text boxes above this one. The town hall is a 3 minute walk and it has a great playground for children - a basketball half-court, and a shuffle board court and a picnic area. In a 15 minute ride there are two local kayak touring companies that provide tours. Plus, an large amusement park is just a few miles away as well as two boardwalks.

Great Beach House
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at this house. Great proximity to beach and walking distance to many restaurants and stores. Short drive to boardwalks.
Home was clean and well appointed. It was perfect for our extended family vacation. Mary was very responsive to all inquiries.
It was our pleasure having Phyllis and her group in our vacation rental. They took very good care of our place and left it very clean. Followed all house rules I welcome her back anytime
The pool heater was only turned on when we got there so it was too cold for the first 18 hours. But the house is very Spacious and has a lot of amenities
We really enjoyed our stay at Fenwick Island, the home was spacious and easy to navigate for a large party with kids. Thank you Mary for being a good host!!
Great home and location for large group and/or family.
The home was a perfect fit for our large group. It possessed the right collection of large common spaces and master bedrooms that our group required. We also appreciated that the home was pet friendly, so our fur baby could also enjoy the trip! The only reason I’m not providing the rental with a five-star rating is that it could use a little cosmetic work.
Fenwick is called the Quiet Resort. There are no loud outdoor parties, or raucous behavior. Fenwick's fine police insure that!
