Half Baths1
Space 1,500 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Beautiful, recently renovated, Architect designed, 3 bedroom, lakefront cottage, with 168 feet of waterfront privacy and sandy beach, (depending on lake water level), on Highland Lake in Bridgton in the Lakes Region of Maine. Bridgton is at the base of the White Mountain Range in the southwest part of the state. Highland Lake is one of the prettiest lakes in the region and is famous for excellent fishing. Bring your own boat or use our Canoe. Great fishing, boating, and water skiing on Highland Lake.

The cottage sleeps up to 8 comfortably and is directly on the water. The large deck literally hangs out over the lake and you have a private beach (depends on lake level), and private dock. Take your boat to the Bridgton town dock for breakfast and shopping, or just lounge in the sun on the large waterfront deck. The views from the deck are simply incredible!

The cottage is new inside as of 2006, with an Architect designed, open floor plan, with amazing views out the expansive front windows. The master bedroom has 1 new Queen bed and private full master bath, the second bedroom has one Full size bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds. Both of these bedrooms share a bathroom. There is also a pull-out full size sleeper in the living room. A double sided fireplace will warm you, if you have a cool Maine evening.

No smoking is allowed in the cottage. One pet, dog or cat, is allowed for an additional non-refundable $300 fee per week. Cottage uses lake water. Bottled water recommended for drinking.

NOTE: This is a seasonal cottage only available to rent for the months of May thru October.

About John Donahoe

I am a licensed architect and professional musician. You can find me playing saxophone and electric violin at Brays Pub in Naples in the southern Maine lakes region nearly evey Sunday night during the summer season. Stop by and say hello.

Why John Donahoe chose Bridgton

When I saw this property it was like the cottage sat 'in' the water. The large deck sits at water's edge and has a superb view down the lake. I re-designed and gutted the inside of the cottage and rebuilt it in the Maine 'Knotty Pine' style, but with modern appliances. This is a peaceful, private location with sunshine from early morning till mid to late afternoon. You'll love it!

What makes this cottage unique

Super Quiet Peaceful and private setting with incredible expansive views down length of lake. Hear the water lap up on the shore from your large private deck!

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

Thank you very much John for such a great week!! The house and location is absolutely perfect and amazing! We loved everything about it from the huge beautiful deck overlooking the water, to the clean and spacious bedrooms and living area with fireplace. The kids had a blast! This place is absolutely awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially to any families looking for a beautiful, clean, quiet and relaxing place to stay. The location is perfect. Just minutes from downtown to access all of the restaurants and shops.

Thank you again John for a special week. We hope to come back!

Exactly what I needed

  • 5 of 5

I needed a get away and a lake house sounded perfect. Well this completely fit the bill. It was right on the lake and the deck literally hangs over it. The lake was lively but not a distraction. Boat watching was fantastic. The dock is perfect, especially at sunrise/set. Grab your glass of wine and enjoy.

The property owner, John is extremely helpful and the interior of the house is very quaint. I did not bring firewood but wish I had as it is perfectly placed in the center of the main room overlooking the lake. Sleeps plenty as advertised. House is set back from other homes providing great privacy and the neighborhood is adorable.

I would highly recommend and if you like to sounds of the loons at night, this is definitely your place.

Right on the water

  • 4 of 5

This house had everything we needed for a great week plus 2 boys and dog! We spent all day and evening on the water and on the dock and deck. Dock could be a little bigger for our needs but was perfect for the rental. We brought our dog, sailboat and loved having access to the canoe that the owner provided - we used it at least 5 times a day! Kitchen was well equipped, house was clean and a great overall cottage. Great walking neighborhood to get out close to home and Bridgton is a great town. Super responsive owner as well - John was great to deal with.

Highland Lake house

  • 5 of 5

This lake house had a wonderful location, right on the water with a deck that provided both sun and shade all day long. We spent most of our days and evenings on the deck.

The entry to the water was sandy and an easy access. The dock was perfect for early morning coffee and late night star gazing. The lake with its many islands was great for kayaking and bird watching. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The bedrooms were quite roomy. Ceiling fans and the lake breezes kept the house cool even on the hottest days. The owner was excellent, quick to answer questions or arrange for any service we needed. Bridgton has many restaurants to explore. Our stay was perfect and we would tell other people about this house.

Great time on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week at the lake house. We had two families with 8 people, 4 of them kids age 4 to 8. We had a great time! The house is great, the fishing off the dock is fantastic, bald eagles flying around, lots of other wildlife. Having the deck right on the water was perfect, made it really easy to enjoy the lake constantly. The owner was very friendly and helpful when needed but not intrusive at all. We had a great time and highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a fun family spot on the lake...

Wonderful week on the lake

  • 5 of 5

My family could not have had a more peaceful, beautiful week. The weather was perfect, sunny days and cool nights. We spent a lot of time on the huge deck that practically sits on the water. We didn’t do a lot of cooking but the kitchen seemed well stocked. The cabin is very comfortable, the ceiling fans worked great for the hot days. There was more than enough room for the three of us. The owner was very responsive but not intrusive. Highland lake is beautiful. The sandy entrance made for great swimming. The location is perfect. Because it’s at the very end of the road it has the quiet and privacy we wanted but it’s only about a 10 minute drive from the center of town. Bridgton has a movie theater and a drive in. We enjoyed breakfast at Beth’s Kitchen and dinner at the Gastropub. We saw a mother deer and her doe crossing the road in front of the cabin. Unfortunately we didn’t see loons but we did hear them. We all wished we rented for two weeks instead of one. Looking forward to next year.
