Feel like you are on top of the world with an amazing 180 degree coastline sunset view. Located on a 250 foot bluff overlooking Kaohe bay this home has unobstructed coastline views. It is a very private home on an over sized lot which borders thousands of acres of rugged coastline. Listen to the whales sleep at night with the gentle waves. Watch the Whales in the bay below from December until April. Just a couple hundred yards away is your own private pebble beach which on a busy day you might see 7 or 8 other people. Most days you have the beach to yourself. Most days even in the winter months, are calm enough to kayak, snorkel, swim and scuba dive. The water visibility is more that 100 feet and rarely is less than 75 feet. There are coral reefs within 75 feet of the shore and the area is known for some of the best diving on all of the Hawaii Islands.
A great place to hang out is the lanai which has a stainless steel barbecue, bar area for your tropical drinks and a nice lanai dining area. Sip your coffee or coctail and enjoy th view. There is also a dining room table outside to go with the bar viewing area. The entire house is furnished tropical style and the landscaping is very tropical with dozens of different varieties of Palms, Bromiliads, Bouganvillas, Mango, Plumeria and much more. The house is on a bluff, so not only do you get an awesome view but you also get a perfect ocean breeze during the day and a delightful Mauna Loa breeze at night. It is a very quite and peaceful setting with an awesome view. A great place to relax. This property is registered with the State of Hawaii as Transient Accommodations under GE tax number-W30281808-01

Lovely house and great location
The house has everything you need and was clean and welcoming. It let's you access both sides of the island and is beautifully quiet. We had some fabulous meals on the lanai. There were even four beers waiting for us in the fridge. Lovely plants and birds all around a very nice house.
Big Island Sunsets
This is my second stay at Steve’s property with my wife and we are not disappointed. The house is ideally located in Kona Paradise with privacy and panoramic views of the ocean. The sunsets are amazing! A wonderful place to stay to get away from the more touristsy area but not too far that you can’t drive into town. Steve is a great host and very responsive if you have any questions. We will definitely be back for our annual trip to Hawaii. Highly recommend this house!
Our stay was awesome and the view was the best.
This was a very comfortable house with everything we needed. Homeowner was very helpful and quick to respond as well as to return deposit.
Wonderful stay on Japonica Lane
We had an amazing one week stay in this home. The house was clean and comfortable and nicely located close to Captain Cook to the north and not far from the Green Sand Beach to the south. The beach at the bottom of the hill is great for lounging, snorkeling or cooling off and the coastline is perfect for long walks.
Every evening we watched the sunset from the beautiful lanai and ate dinner under the stars, and we were lucky enough to see humpback whales and spinner dolphins go by.
It was a magical vacation and Steve was the perfect host!
Fantastic view over the coastline. The house was very clean and well equipped. I cannot find any negative aspects. I would stay there again.
We chose this house based on its location and amazing views and were not disappointed. It is a wonderful choice for anyone who is looking to experience Hawaii away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area. The views from the lanai are incredible!
We spent 90% of the time we were at the house out on the lanai and enjoyed every meal outside. In the evening we enjoyed drinks and gorgeous sunsets. We just missed the whale season, but were able to view many dolphins, manta ray and sea turtles. (We brought a travel set of binoculars with us and were very glad we did.) There are also many wild goats and poultry roaming the area. There is a local fisherman in the area who goes out every morning and returns with his catch later in the day. If you are lucky, he puts a sign up out on the street and you can buy fresh Ono or Ahi to grill on the lanai. There are also several fresh fruit markets located nearby that you can drive by and get locally grown fruits and vegetables. We enjoyed several great meals at the small local restaurants like Big Jake’s Island BBQ and Keoki’s Roadside Café.
The pebble beach located by the house was fairly quiet and we had it mostly to ourselves. Water shoes that are enclosed and have a good sole are recommended, as the lava stone pebbles can be difficult to walk on. There is also an interesting hiking trail located along the beach line. It is a historic trail that the locals help maintain and has many interesting points to view (take along some water). We appreciated making use of the coolers that the owner provided, as we were able to take along food and cold beverages wherever we went on our day-trips. The kitchen was fairly well appointed and had most of the items we needed. There are a few stores in the area (Steve, the owner, provided a list and we also discovered other small local places) to pick up extra things we needed. There is a great Costco in Kona.
The house is about a 30 minute drive from Kona, but we found it worth the few extra miles of travel to escape the tourist crowds and it was central to most of the activities we wanted to participate in. We day-tripped out to Volcano National Park, Akaka Falls State Park and many other great areas on the island. The house is attractive and functional and there is a spectacular view of the ocean and coastline from the second queen bedroom. Steve is responsive and professional to deal with. We would definitely stay here again.
