About Carol Shear

Currently residing in CT with the demands of professional lives, we escape to the Cape anytime we can to renew, refresh and recharge. We raised our children coming to the Cape as a place to be together as a family. When I asked my then 7 yr old son what he loved about coming to the cottage, he answered " I know where everyone (in his family) is and we are together." Doesn't get better than that! It's been our treasure and place of great family fun and adventure even now as young adults for 15 years. We just love it and know you will too!

Carol Shear purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Carol Shear chose New Seabury

There's nothing like New Seabury and Maushop Village anywhere else on the Cape. We love the beautifully maintained resort property, sense of community, the 'small-townness' of it, proximity to the Marketplace (short walk), Mashpee Commons (short drive), beach (frisbee throw), biking (everywhere), and ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. It's just a gem!

What makes this cottage unique

We love to welcome the morning with a cup of coffee on the deck overlooking Nantucket Sound and then relax here at the end of the day with a glass of wine watching the boats sail by.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing your cozy cottage with us! It was just perfect for us and so central to beach, shopping, drive to visit family and ferries to the islands. We could not have been more comfortable in your carefully appointed cottage with attention to every detail. We look forward to returning!

Escape at The Cape

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been visiting Cape Cod for many years, but it wasn't until we stayed at this cottage that we truly felt like we were in paradise. The Shears keep their cottage in such beautiful condition! They are always upgrading, painting and making changes to the cottage. They truly keep it as if it is a second home and not a rental! It is beautifully decorated, lots of sunlight and the views of the water from the upper deck (we like to call it the cocktail hour deck) are magnificent! Incredible location. A short walk to the beach, shopping, grocery store etc.. As well as a walking/running path. You will not go wrong with this cottage, which is why we keep coming back every year!!

A slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have picked a better place for our vacation! Our kids (ages 6, 9 + 11) loved the condo, being able to walk to the beach and marketplace, and all of the great kid-friendly activities in the area.

The condo was very clean and had new, comfy furniture. We loved having dinner on the patio and a glass of wine on the balcony while enjoying the ocean views.

We can't wait to go back!!

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

The owners are very organized making for a flawless experience. The cottage is fully loaded with all the amenities and more! It rained practically all week when we where there in late June 2009 but found lots to do. Martha’s Vineyard was a great experience (although would have been better sans umbrella…) and there are lots of day trips possible from the location (town of Chatham, bike ride from Falmouth to Woods Hole). Provincetown is a bit far for a day trip as traffic jams seemed to be common. There is a great grocery store a 5 minute drive away - Roche Bros – and a liquor store across the street in Mashpee Commons. For foodies, don’t expect many (ANY!) good restaurants in the area, certainly not by foot. We ate at Blue in Masphee Commons, which was a decent meal but the service was brutal. Our only criticism of the cottage was the proximity to neighbouring cottages, which are all very close in the village, and the lack of restaurants and shopping by foot. If the weather was better, the beach is just steps away and the owners provide SWEET beach chairs and an umbrella. There is an outdoor table with chairs and a great BBQ, which is not pictured in the description of this cottage but should be!

A Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family has enjoyed a wonderful week here in your so-special Cape Cod home. The Cape's bright but comfortable weather has been a welcome change from our southern tropical summers. We've been on the go with 20 mile bike rides on the Cape Cod Rail Trail and the trails on Martha's Vineyard, golf and tennis - always followed by soothing beach time. Your house is a haven and filled with warmth!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I rented this single cottage for a week with my husband and my son 13 and daughter 10. It was exactly what we wanted. Cottage was clean and well maintained. 100 yards from a private beach. It was a relaxing vacation. The only think was that every family had young kids under 5 yrs old and they got up 6am and by 7am everyone was up and outside. Very noisy when you want to sleep at least until 8am. By 8pm you could not hear a pin drop.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled the cottage met your expectations and you enjoyed a wonderful vacation. Our family spends a lot of time there throughout the year and we ensure it is well maintained for the enjoyment of all who visit. It has been our pleasure over the years to host both families of all ages and couples alike, several who return each summer to our cottage to enjoy all the Cape has to offer and the quaintness of our cozy village.
