Great family trip experience.
Great place, easy access, very cozy, spacious
Pet friendly . Good area. Highly recommended.
Great cabin that’s very easy to get to. Almost walking distance to Lees-McRae College and very short drive to Beech & Sugar Mtns (we drive to both mountain tops simply for sight seeing). Cabin was clean & well stocked. Owner was very thoughtful & a pleasure to work with.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The cabin is located on the road, which we knew from looking at the pics and map, but during the summer, with the windows down, there was some street noise, but nothing a sound machine in our kid’s room couldn’t fix. The back porch is great. You feel like you’re sitting in the forest, except with a screen and hot tub :).
It was Ok.
We thought it could have been cleaner in the bathrooms. I use to own my own cleaning company for 15 years. One thing is you should never leave used bars of soaps in the shower. I was really hoping for more area to walk around instead of being on the main road but the place is great we had a wonderful time.
I'm glad you had a good time. I personally cleaned the bathrooms thoroughly the day you came. If you had problems, I was just a phone call or text away. I would have been more than happy to take care of whatever you did not like, including a fresh bar of soap.
Ruined our vacation. READ BEFORE BOOKING.
This was our first experience with VRBO and we are very unlikely to use this site again because of our experience with this homeowner. We were very disappointed with our stay. When we walked in, it was 41 degrees inside of the cabin. We turned all the "floor registers" on high and used the gas fire place at all times when we were in the home. After skiing the entire day and into the evening, it was still only 58 degrees upon our return. As we went to retire upstairs in the master bedroom we pulled back the sheets only to find the bed was covered in medium length black hairs (what I thought was maybe from a dog and we have photos). We did not bring a dog, do not own a dog, and yet they charged us for it.The trash was completely full with an additional 4 bags next to it on the porch (when we went out to the hot tub where trash is kept). Hot tub was cold (80*). We had to turn the heaters on ourself and wait hours. On top of all this, a tree knocked out the power (have pictures), which they said was area-wide and thus unrelated to the power lines down in the yard.We did not have heat or water the entire night/into the morning. We also had to throw away the food we brought. Owners accused us of heavy alcohol use/partying. We are a couple(2) and brought 9 craft beers on our vacation...To clarify it was just the two of us, no guests during our stay.We spoke with Owner about the power outage,he was disinterested in our other complaints and was only concerned about the property, not our stay.We sent photos to VRBO and told them all the issues including no communication from the owners. VRBO responded with a suggestion to reconcile this with the owners.
There was no effort on their part to make us more comfortable with these inconveniences. No refund for our troubles and then they had the audacity to keep our security deposit. After contacting VRBO and the homeowners, only VRBO responded. They are essentially powerless to police this activity. The owners have not responded to any communication efforts and sent an email shaming us for the condition of the home. We spoke to the owner prior to booking and after speaking, the negative reviews on VRBO were explained away. I trusted her.Once you read the other reviews you'll see that we aren't the first young couple that these homeowners have tried to scam out of their deposit and more. I would not recommend this log cabin to an enemy let alone a family or couple looking to enjoy their time together.
This was a very unfortunate experience for all involved. The traveler did not communicate the "condition of the cabin" when checking in at 8:00 am. It was not until late in the evening the next day after they lost power due to the storm that they registered their complaints. No one has control over Mother Nature. We had no way of knowing that they were unhappy. The cabin was thoroughly cleaned and ready for their occupancy upon checkin. We try our best to communicate with our guests and to make sure they have a great experience and are able to enjoy all that is available to them.
