Overview

About the property

Cabin cozy condo with 3 BR/2 BA- 2nd Floor Views- Elevator Accessible!

Our cabindo combines the comfort of a cabin with the convenience of a condo in beautiful Maggie Valley, NC, located halfway between Asheville and the Smoky Mountains. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1600 sq. foot, open-concept unit is decorated like a cabin, but is airy and light (9 foot ceilings) with beautiful views of the mountains, golf course and pool. At an elevation of 3000 feet, you can enjoy cool summer nights, fall colors, winter skiing and spring flowers with golf, hiking and fishing available all year round.

Stocked with all your needs (towels, linens) plus supplies to get your vacation started (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, coffee, filters, salt, pepper and spices) you will have everything you need to enjoy our little corner of the world. Full size washer and dryer with laundry soap and dyer sheets provided. Cable TV, games, puzzles, cards and free WiFi (strong signal). We even have a desk and wireless printer in case you have some work to do.

The unit is convenient for easily getting around the area. The roads are wide and well maintained with no narrow, steep or sharp turns or driveways to negotiate. You can park in the large, lighted parking lot and there is an elevator in the building, just steps from our unit, which is all on one floor - no stairs. You can easily walk to lunch, dinner or the spa as well as the pool, hot tub, fitness center and golf, as we are on the Maggie Valley Club's beautifully landscaped property. Jonathan Creek borders the golf course and is a great place to catch trout, sit and watch the rushing water or go tubing.

Our cabindo is in a building with a total of 9 condos. It is a quiet, peaceful place. If you appreciate a lovely, and serene setting, you will love it here. Plenty to do in the area or just enjoy reading in front of the fire or on the porch. Perfect size for a golf foursome, a family or just a couple or two.

We are a dog-friendly Cabindo. You can bring up to 2 small to medium-sized (less than 50 lbs), well-behaved dogs with you with to our place, with prior permission. Your well-behaved dogs should feel very comfortable here. A $50 pet cleaning fee will be added.

Because we are members of the Maggie Valley Club, we can offer you access to the outdoor, heated pool and hot tub (seasonal) and the fitness room. We give the Club your name and you pay them directly. Rate is $20 per day or $100 per week. This is good for all your guests staying in The Cabindo.

The Maggie Valley CC property itself offers proximity to both the popular Asheville cultural and fine dining experience, and the pristine beauty of the Smoky Mountains and surrounding national forests. Many guests will want to tour the incredible, historic Biltmore mansion and grounds a short 30 minute drive away. There is a beautiful trout stream bordering the resort which is stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout just waiting to give you a good fight. Nearby, towns like Waynesville and Bryson City have quaint historic districts featuring shopping, dining, and artists. Cherokee, which is at the eastern end of Smoky Mountain NP, offers many family activies as well as a casino for the adults. This area is truly a year-round destination with hundreds of activities including golf, hiking, fishing, mountaineering, snow skiing and tubing, summer creek tubing, horseback riding, and much, much more.

We hope you will find staying in our Maggie Valley home a very comfortable, relaxing way to fall in love with Western North Carolina!

About The Owner

My wife, Janet, and I found this mountain oasis after many years of searching for a getaway to escape the coastal Carolina summer heat. The Western North Carolina mountains were love at first sight and provided the perfect combination of Asheville nightlife and nearly inexhaustible outside activities for us, our kids, and grand kids- plus the added bonus of being near a ski area.

This condo is our second home and we have put the love and attention to detail that makes it our perfect escape into the way it has been decorated and setup which will ensure fond memories for the families who stay here when we can't.

Comfortable with beautiful setting

We spent New Years at the cabindo and had a wonderful time! The location is not far from skiing and very close to town. The space is well furnished and well stocked. The country club is beautiful and I would highly recommend this rental to others!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This Cabindo was so tastefully decorated and met all the needs of a perfect get away. We spent Christmas here and could not want for anything. every detail well thought out from the games by the fire to the guide book created by the owners for all pertinent information on the area. We made wonderful memories staying here and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with all the luxuries.

Immaculate, well-equiped, and modern

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled with the Cabindo. It was large, clean, and very thoughtfully appointed. Every little detail was considered -- from the numerous games to play around the fireplace, to the through book of curated local recommendations, to the bonuses like a baby pack-and-play and baby gate. Even the art on the walls is lovely. The unit was extremely clean and well-maintained. We also liked the layout, which worked well for our family because the master suite was separated from the other two bedrooms. The unit was quiet, easy to access, and centrally located between Maggie and Waynesville. We wouldn't change a thing and will look forward to staying in the Cabindo again in the future.

Fabulous condo with wonderful views and amenities

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this terrific condo in the Maggie Valley Club from October 19 through October 23. The club and the unit were very easy to find, just a short ride off the main highway in Maggie Valley, about 15 minutes off I-40.

The owners, John and Janet, offer a beautifully decorated three-bedroom unit will a wonderful mountain view and all the necessities included. The beds are big and extremely comfortable, with some of the nicest mattresses ever. The unit has all the furnishing you need for your stay, and the only thing you need to bring are yourselves, your clothing and whatever food you wish to cook in the unit. All the utensils, dishes and cooking materials are provided. There are flat-screen TVs in each bedroom room and in the family room, full cable service and very fast high-speed internet available. They provide all the instructions you need to operate the air conditioning and other features, including the delightful gas fireplace, which we enjoyed on the cool evenings. The unit has three large bedrooms and two full baths and could easily sleep up to six visitors.

Some tips: John and Janet provide some basic necessities, including cooking needs (spices, etc.) and ground coffee. If you need to shop for food, the nearest large grocery is a Food Lion located just outside of town. There are larger stores, including a large Wal-Mart, in nearby Waynesville.

If you eat out in Maggie Valley, we recommend Frankie's, a great Italian place, and J Arthurs Steak House, both on the main highway. Frankie's is a very busy place on weekends, so prepare to wait a bit for a table. We also had dinner at the Rendezvous, located in the Maggie Valley Inn, a more casual experience with very good food (my wife had an entree salad that was enormous). If you want to see your favorite NFL team on Sunday, the nearby Legends Sports Bar has Sunday Ticket, a good beer selection and great food. Get there early for your game.

We didn't take advantage of the amenities at the Club as we were traveling the area looking at potential vacation homes, but the golf course is a great facility, surrounded by wonderful mountain views. There are lots of other activities in the area, as well as the nearby Great Smokey National Park.

John was very responsive when we made the reservation. All in all, this is a great location for a getaway with family or friends. Highly recommended.

Great find in Maggie Valley

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great! The unit was very clean and well cared for, the beds were spectacular. Wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and club pool. The owner was very accommodating and communicated well.

I own a bunch of vacation rentals myself and found this unit to be exceptional in all regards. Someday upgrading to a illuminated keyless lock might be nice as there isn't a lot of light by the front door, so fumbling with a combination luck can be a little frustrating on arrival / departure, but no biggie.

Large club pool (have to pay extra $20 per day), which was super nice for the kids. Golf course looked very nice but we didn't play it.

If you are a runner, there is a wonderful 3.8 mile course around Lake Junaluska, it's foggy a lot in the morning there, but that's great for running. Mostly flat, park at the Bethea Welcome Center, just 3 or 4 miles from the unit.

I would recommend eating at Frankies for some incredible Italian food, it's very close. The Mountaineer Restaurant is a few miles down 19. They have a nice covered patio for lunch and offer an excellent blackened trout. Do NOT eat at Pop's Grits and Eggs. Mad Anthony's Tap room in Waynesville is very spartan, but offers something like 50 beers on tap and while their menu is limited to sandwiches, they are very good. Innovation Brewing in Sylva is just a quick 30 minute highway ride and is one of the better breweries in Western North Carolina.

For rafting, I would recommend Smoky Mountain River Adventures in Dillsboro on the Tuskegee River. It's about a 35 minute drive, but well worth it. The staff are uber friendly and the place very well kept and well managed. The Tuskegee is not white water rafting per se, but it's definitely a step up over lazy tubing as well. GREAT for families with younger kids. Our kids are 6 and 9, and there was plenty of fun rapids, but also great area to pull off and swim, jump off rocks, etc. A very memorable day!

We'll definitely be back to the Maggie Valley Club and hopefully to this property!

Owner's Response: So glad you and your family enjoyed Maggie Valley and that our "cabindo" was a comfortable home base for the many outdoor activities you were able to experience in such a short time. Funny you should mention the lockbox. Coincidentally we are here today installing a keyless entry system by Schlage that should make access easier and eliminate the worry of a renter getting locked out or losing their key. We appreciate the immaculate condition you left our property and hope you will stay here again soon!
