About Bill and Heather Duncan

We are life-long residents of East Tennessee with deep ties to the Smoky Mountains. Heather's grandfather was from Greenbriar, which is a small rural town close to Gatlinburg. We, along with our three children, love to spend time hiking and exploring the many mountain trails that surround our beautiful part of the country. We are excited to share our knowledge of the history and culture of our "neck of the woods" with visitors, and are happy to recommend spots for tranquil walks, fine dining, or family fun.

Bill and Heather Duncan purchased this cabin in 2017

Why Bill and Heather Duncan chose Sevierville

In 2016, we were affected by the tragic fires that devastated much of our mountain areas when the rental cabin that we loved literally burned to the ground. A year later, we were thrilled to find this new cabin, and have set about to making it a comfortable and enjoyable place for our family and guests.

What makes this cabin unique

Mountain Treasure has the benefit of being central to both hiking and attractions, and being part of a resort community. We are so close to wildlife that we often have bears walking through our parking lot. And the amenities of the resort are really a great plus!

BEARadise!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what an amazing time we had in this cabin! Three couples who each had their own level for privacy. It was a first visit to the area for two of the couples so I searched VRBO for quite a while hoping to find the perfect cabin and am so glad this is the one I went with. The location, amazing views, cleanliness, and amenities were just what I was looking for. And, the owners were very easy to contact if needed and very accommodating. The hot tub is located on the upper level so caution if stairs are a concern. We didn't use the Jacuzzi but it is also located in the upper level in the bathroom area which has a walk in shower.

You need to allow approximately 30 minutes drive time to reach the parkway. Finding the cabin was really easy and signs are posted for the Preserve. We all joked with each other about seeing a bear in the area. Upon our return from an evening show, we noticed folks from another cabin out on the porch and was waving us down. We waved and parked our vehicle and started going into the cabin. All of a sudden we heard someone say, You better get inside, there's a bear headed your way! Whoa....the bear was within 8 feet from our porch steps. I was still in the van so seeing the bear approach our porch and continue down past the other cabins was amazing! Just a little heart pounding to see your family trying to get in the cabin with a bear that close to them. An AWESOME memory for all of us. We were told bear are often seen in this cabin area.

Can't wait for a return visit!!!

Beautiful views. Excellent in every way!

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as described, and the owners were very easy to deal with. It is a 3 level log cabin situated at the top of a ridge in Wears Valley which is just outside of Pigeon Forge. The cabin has large flatscreens on every level with lots of entertainment as described in the listing. Our family enjoyed some competitive pool, pac-man, donkey Kong, hot tubbing with a view, and watched movies after the sun went down. The WiFi was good, but our cell coverage (ATT) was sketchy. I would recommend downloading Google Voice or another WiFi VoIP service if you want reliable cell phone usage. We were able to order pizza from a local pizzeria despite being way up the mountain. My family absolutely loved it, and we will definitely stay again.

Very relaxing and fun!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is great for staying with your family (we are a family of 5) or a small group! Lots of room on the third floor with an awesome, old school video game selection! The bottom floor had a great space for watching movies and playing pool, and of course, the hot tub was a big hit! You aren't too far from the IGA store for groceries, and it's a beautiful drive over to Pigeon Forge. The kitchen was well-stocked, even with a blender and some storage containers if you have leftovers after dinner. The electric fireplace is instant warmth and just right for ambiance. Thanks for a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of life! We would love to bring our parents and siblings next time. It's definitely big enough...sleeps 12!

The property was clean and had all the supplies we needed for our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in this cabin. Our children had plenty of games to play and movies to watch. Having three floors to play games was nice as well. It’s about a 40 min drive to Pigeon Foege/Gatlinburg area but we didn’t mind because of the scenic beauty.
