We stayed for 2.5 months and just loved it - the views from the porch are even better than what we anticipated from the photos (and you get to see beautiful sunsets over the Ko'olau range), and there is so little light from the neighborhood that the star gazing was amazing. The sounds of the ocean, the wind in the palms, and the happy birds that hang out on nearby roofs were so soothing and delightful. Joyce and Terry were wonderful hosts - almost like an instant family, and they were very responsive to anything that needed attention. We loved the beach cruisers, and rode them all around town - it's all close enough, and there's a convenient bus to town (i.e., Honolulu), so we didn't get a car for most of the trip (though we needed one to go farther afield, to get to Bonzai Pipeline, etc). Don't miss the snorkeling right off Lanakai beach, and the marsh ~east of town! Be sure to try shave ice at The Local, anything at Kono's with kalua pig, and the eggs & potatoes at Over Easy. Can't wait to go back!
My friend and I had a rare opportunity to get away for a girls trip. We stayed the first 3 days in Waikiki and the last 3 days at this lovely rental in Kailua. It was very peaceful and the view from the deck was amazing. I wish we had stayed the entire trip at Lyon's Den. I would highly recommend staying here. The only downside is if you have kids and are looking for a beach you can walk to and swim in, this property is a bit far for that. You will have to drive to Kailua Beach Park or one of the other beach parks. Also, the owners are wonderful people.
What a nice place to stay! We loved it. The picture doesn't do the view justice.
The beds were comfortable which is rare in rental property. The owners are so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend, and we'll certainly return.
