About Suzanne Shimek

Growing up, the Cape was our family's summer vacation to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Members of our family have lived on the Cape since they arrived on the Mayflower! As older adults my husband and I were able to purchase this lovely home on the Cape. We love the house as much as we love the Cape...maybe more!

What we love about Cape Cod: We can never get enough lobster, the beaches are many and varied and the most beautiful ever, clamming, fishing, shopping antique stores and thrift shops, the lovely antique houses, being on the water, the art...and so much more.

What we love about the house: The phenomenal views! The peaceful and quite area, listening to the birds sing, watching the sunset from the deck with a nice glass of wine and appetizers!

Suzanne Shimek purchased this house in 2002

Why Suzanne Shimek chose Cape Cod

We loved this house instantly for many reasons. The views all around are panoramic and spectacular, and the sunsets are beautiful. The house is perched on a hill overlooking the bay and marsh which makes the views even better. The street and location is quiet and reminiscent of an earlier era in time. The house is light and bright, roomy and comfortable.

What makes this house unique

The views are TRULY phenomenal, the home is comfortable and the prices are very reasonable.

Awesome House

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The house was not fancy but exactly what you want for a cape cod house. The sunsets were beautiful and different every night. It was a quiet place no noise or traffic. My 4 year old grandson loved playing on the large deck with great views. Thank You to the owners for sharing this fantastic house. It was a hot week and I was a little worried about no AC but the cross winds kept us cool everyday but 1when there was no wind. If you want to relax you never have to leave, if you want the beach, PTown great places to eat they are right there. Only 1 suggestion there were not enough cleaning supplies for bathroom but the house was spotless when we arrived. I definitely recommend and hope to go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the glowing review. We are grateful that we can share our house by the bay with others. We do have a fabulous cleaning crew and are very grateful for their assistance. I apologize for the lack of cleaning supplies. We normally do leave window and bath cleaner in each bath and we will have it replenished. Thanks for letting us know. Thank you for choosing our home for your vacation!! Suzanne

Favorite Cape Cod Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this home. It is spacious and clean and decorated in classic cape cod style. The panoramic views are amazing and there is nothing more relaxing than having a drink on the back deck. Every room has a view. We planned to go out to eat a lot of dinners, but ended up staying home a lot to enjoy the beautiful view and sunset. The kitchen functions well and has a view. The bathrooms are spacious. We were very comfortable here and will definitely stay again. By far our favorite Cape Cod retreat.

Beautiful Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

Each Thanksgiving, we like to rent a house where we can meet up with family from other parts of the country. This year, we chose the Cape, and this great house on the marsh. Going to the Cape in the off-season obviously has its pluses and minuses—many shops and restaurants are closed, but it's quiet, and you feel like you have the place to yourself. We went for walks on the beach, ate sandwiches and drank Cape Cod beer from Sam's, and got the best lobsters and lobster bisque from Mac's Seafood.

The house itself isn't fancy—the appliances and fixtures are a little dated, and we had one glitch where Comcast accidentally turned off the Internet for the off-season. That said, it was well-maintained, and we were warm, comfortable, and able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal for 5 with the gorgeous Cape Cod sunset at our backs.

Relaxing Cape Vacation

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I rented this house in July of '08 with our two young children. It was more space then we needed for our family of four! The views of sunsets and the bay were amazing!!!! We all enjoyed watching the birds and exploring fiddler crabs in the marsh infront of the house! The week we were there it was very humid but we didn't feel a bit of the humidity because of the wonderful ocean breeze! The kitchen and bathrooms could use a few updates but overall we loved the time we spent there and hope to be back! The food from the Friendly Fisherman was specatular and had the most fun at Nauset Lighthouse Beach where my husband caught a 8lb bluefish right off the beach!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the glowing review. We just want everyone to know that our kitchen was updated last spring with a brand new stainless steel range and dishwasher. We know that old stove really needed to be replaced and are sure you will all enjoy the newly refurbished kitchen! The downstairs bathroom was also fitted with a new toilet and vanity as well. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful reviews. Suzanne and Mark

Or sit on the deck and relax with a good book soaking up the warm rays of the sun while listening to the birds sing. Dine Al fresco on the back deck (with picnic table and gas BBQ) and enjoy the magnificent sunset views. Away from the crowds on a sandy lane, yet easily accessible to everything the Outer Cape has to offer. This home is on the town borders of Wellfleet and North Eastham.
