I grew up in Plattsburgh, NY and have lots of family living locally. I have traveled extensively and explored some of the world's most beautiful places, but there isn't another place that brings my the same level of peace and tranquility like Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.
Mary purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Mary chose Plattsburgh
Don't worry about lack of reviews - we just started renting at the end of summer last year!! Growing up near Lake Champlain, I always dreamed of owning a place on the lake and waking up to the spectacular sunrises in the morning. Nothing soothes my soul more!! The Valcour area is one of the most sought after locations on the lake for fisherman and boaters alike.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin was built in 1927 and has been fully restored and meticulously maintained. Peru boat launch and Snug Harbor Marina is a stones-throw away for boaters who want to enjoy their watersports. The cabin is directly across from the Valcour Lighthouse and a 15 minute kayak ride from the shores of Valcour Island. Direct access ramp to lake and dock to enjoy swimming and fishing. Numerous lake/river/stream fishing opportunities for the avid or novice fisherman. Hiking biking and walking trails are minutes away. Fall asleep to the sounds of the water lapping up onto the shore. One hour or less from Montreal, Burlington and Lake Placid

Great place 2ed year.
Nothing short of amazing!!!!
This was our first time renting a property through VRBO and also our first time to this area, so we didn't really know what to expect. As soon as we arrived I was absolutely amazed by this property. The house is adorable, everything a lake cabin should be. It's cute, quaint, and cozy, yet big at the same time. It is much bigger than I expected. And the views, OMG, the views! Stunning! The lake goes on forever, it seems. The house is fully stocked with bath towels, beach towels, a hair dryer, kitchen supplies, and even basic pantry items. I definitely brought way too much stuff! We had amazing weather, despite what the forecast said. We spent our days tying our giant peacock float to the dock and floating the days away. We also enjoyed kayaking and fishing right off the dock. We even ventured on the kayaks to Valcour Island a few times. We rented a paddle board one day and brought it back to the house for the day for extra fun (way harder than I thought!!) At night we loved to just sit by the fire and watch the boats coming in and out from the boat launch next door. We even witnessed lightning storms in Vermont/Canada one night - very cool! The house is private, yet close enough to everything. We cooked at the house most nights, but enjoyed nearby restaurants called Latitude 44 and Plattsburgh Brewing Co. There was a sculpture garden down the road which was fun to visit and a little drive south we found a farm stand that operates on the honor system! That's where we bought our farm fresh eggs. Texas Red Hots is a cute little restaurant up the road for hot dogs. I love all of those little finds! Mary was great to rent from. She responds very quickly and gave very complete information regarding the cabin and the area. Overall, we had an amazingly, relaxing week and would definitely return. I highly recommend this property.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a great review!! It's always good to hear that our guests have had a good time! We hope to hear from you again!
I was my first time up to Lake Champlain and renting a house on line. The place is fantastic !!!
Clean, comfortable, great AC, fully stocked kitchen with great appliances, great dining room with lake view. Been going on a fishing trip to Canada for 20yrs and booked this place instead to fish a tournament on Champ. Thinking of making this place my new annual place to go, because it’s that good. There is a free boat launch a 100 yards from property. I don’t think I could have booked a better place for my vacation. Thanks Mary !!!
Amazing for a family getaway! My experience couldn’t have gone any better!
The property was larger than it appears. This home can fit 8 people very comfortably. And it’s in a nice and quiet area. Everything is close by for convenice. The lake view is amazing. You can have a fire out back, ride kayaks, go fishing, and much more. I would definitely go back and I reccommend this place for anyone trying to take a trip to relax up in the north country!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your weekend at the cabin celebrating your family's special event! I hope you have the opportunity to use the cabin again in the future!
Great view and location, Coming back...
Great place coming back plenty of room......
Excellent property and great owner
I only stayed 2 nights, but we had a great time. The place was fully equipped and well located on Lake Champlain just outside the city of Plattsburgh. It was just what I needed to relax and get some perspective on life. The kayaks were great and the lake was real calm for morning kayaking. The cleaning fee and other fees were a bit expensive ($97/day), but if I had done more than 2 days, those costs would have stretched better over a longer stay period. All in all, the place is great and I would recommend it to anyone coming to the area. I would definitely stay there again.
