Convenient Reasonable Weekend Escape

  • 5 of 5

My "romfi" (romantic female interest) and I needed a weekend ski break and the only weekend we swing it was the dual Valentines/President's Day weekend. We were warned that IF we could even find a rental, there'd be a big minimum stay and a premium price. Totally untrue of this place and this terrific owner. The condo was exactly as represented (pictured and described) and the owner was easy to work with, responsive to first-time-renter questions and helpful with information. The condo was minutes from slopes via a convenient, easy bus, but we enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Keystone Village. We appreciated the amenities at adjacent Keystone Lodge and the mountain and Keystone Lake views. We cooked in most meals in the well-equipped kitchen and appreciated knowing we could bring movies to watch while eating and enjoying the cozy living room. This condo is perfect for a couple retreat or small family weekend escape. It was comfortable, attractive, reasonably-priced and well-located. We intend to use it again.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I was the renter on the other side of the person who had a toilet overflow. Not allowing the plumber to come in immediately after the incident was inconvenient to those of us who stayed the next day. However, the owner was very apologetic and kind, explaining what had happened. He gave us the direct number to reach him at any time. I would not hesitate to stay there again....very nice, awesome views and easy owner to work with who was eager to share all that is offered in the area.

Excellent Spot

  • 5 of 5

We took our vacation at the condo and we loved the stay. The patio view of the lake and mountains is unbelievable. The place is spacious and well furnished. When we stayed there the lake area was very peaceful and quiet most of the time. Being close to Dillon and Frisco is an added bonus. The only drawback is the parking is limited and sometimes if you get back late and the lot is full you have to walk 5 minutes from the nearest extra parking. Overall we loved our stay.

BAD CHOICE!

  • 1 of 5

Worst VRBO experience EVER! I have waited several months to post this because I wanted to (forget about it) calm down. We are now looking at a new VRBO and are hesitant because of this experience. First you have to send him a check for the full amount including deposit, this should be a warning, because you have no recourse with pay pal or a credit card company if something goes wrong- who doesn’t have a pay pal account? Second of all the accommodations are very minimal; no soap, 1 roll of toilet paper for 4 people, 4 skimpy towels. When you check in, there is specific instructions on check out: Strip all beds and put sheets and towels in tub, run dishwasher and put away dishes and take out trash, it makes one wonder why you pay a cleaning fee!! Then the condo is very dated with original carpet and plumbing. The shower sprays all over (as expected at a low rate hotel) and we had issues with the toilet plugging up. Since the place is so minimal, it was surprising it had a plunger- until we got back from skiing and needed it. The toilet overflowed to the point that we had to turn off the water and use our 4 skimpy towels to try and control the water. When we called the owner, he asked if we tried the plunger and told us he had never had these issues before. He refused to call in a plumber to handle the problem because of the cost and asked us to walk outside (in the winter) to another building to use a bathroom, in the middle of the night, with two kids. He did finally tell us where more towels were so we could clean up the mess. He was texting us until 1 AM about the mess and then started at 5 AM asking when we were going to leave so he could get someone in to fix the issue because he had renters coming in that evening. Even after following all the check out expectations (I even took the trash out!) he actually had the nerve to charge us for half of the carpet cleaning bill (I’m SURE he’s only going to charge half that bill back on taxes!!). Unbelievable experience!

Owner's Response: The incident reported on the June 17th is the one and only complaint in sixteen years. The guest (2 adults and 2 children) in question had a two night reservation, arrival at 4pm on Friday and departure at 10am Sunday. At approximately 8:45pm on Saturday evening I received a call reporting a blocked bathroom stool. The guest reported that he attempted to unblock the stool with the plunger next to the stool but in so doing had caused the stool to overflow and was using bathroom towels to wipe up the “mess on the floor”. Guest was given access to owner’s closet to have more towels to aid in the clean up and when offered a plumber to unblock the stool he reported that the children were asleep and not to send someone until the morning. A text was sent at 5am inquiring as to the best time to have the plumber arrive, the guest requested a 9am appointment. The plumber arrived at 9am, knocked on the door, got no response, called me and I gave him the access code and permission to enter. He reported that the condo was empty, cleaned the blocked stool in less than 5 minutes and left. Because new guest were arriving Sunday mid-afternoon I drove the one and half hours to the condo to assure the condition of the condo was acceptable for the new guest. While the condo was found in reasonable condition, the keycards, parking permits, ski locker and owner’s closet keys were missing. When asked in a text their where-abouts, the guest replied he had hidden all those items in the condo and would not share where until I agreed to reimbursement them for their stay. I responded that I would not respond to extortion, and that I had reported his action to the police. Since my Cleaning Service reported that they had not left the proper amount of toilet paper and towels, I agreed to refund the $60 cleaning fee and the $100 Security Deposit. In turn the guest revealed where he had hidden the items he concealed. On Monday the new guest reported dampness and oder coming from the carpets outside the bathroom entrance. I immediately sent over a carpet cleaner who charged me $125. In my final note to the guest I reported the need to clean the carpet and that I felt it fair to split the carpet cleaning cost. and therefore only refunded him his $100 security deposit. Contrary to what the guest reported, I due accept Paypal payments as indicated on the Registration form. The guest choose to pay by check. Though an unfortunate incident, I am committed to excellence in service.

Loved this condo. Very large and comfortable. Had all the kitchen things we needed. The beds were comfortable too. I would stay here again. Beautiful view of lake too.

Fabulous condo

  • 5 of 5

We love the 'old' Keystone built around the lake. It's quiet, the lake is gorgeous and it's only a 5 minute bike ride to the slopeside village. We think Argentine condos have the best view of them all. In fact, we opted to 'eat in' two nights just to enjoy the condo and setting. The king size bed was super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we could have wanted. We will certainly try to stay here again.
