Perfect place to sit and enjoy a cocktail or float around in the cool mountain water. Only a 5 minute drive to Cataract TrailHead. A short incredibly beautiful hike in the cool air. We are 1 hour from Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin & Winter Park. Great deck to kickback on after a day of skiing, hiking, & fishing. Grill your dinner & enjoy s'mores by the fire pit.

Welcoming main floor living space is ideal for groups of friends to come relax and recharge. Full kitchen is excellent for preparing group meals. Enjoy dinner on large dining table with a wood burning fireplace in the background. Play your favorite music throughout the cabin (even outside) to keep the perfect vibe. The Bunk room and master bedroom have stunning morning views of Green Mountain Reservoir and Williams Fork Range. Cozy living room has very large couch, love seat, and swivel chair for easy conversations that turn into long naps. Small TV connected to the internet can be hooked up to Netflix or Amazon Prime. High speed internet is good for short bits of unexpected work that comes up. Great lawn for volleyball, horseshoes, swinging in the hammock. Short walk down the wooded path to the lake for a cool refreshing swim, or to fish off the dock or tie up your boat. 2 SUP boards available. Just a 10 minute drive up a dirt road and you will have access to some unbelievably beautiful trails. Different skill levels. High efficiency laundry and dryer are great for packing light but staying fresh. Toss a load of wet towels from a cool swims in there, or hang along the railings when the sun’s shining. This property has direct lake access outfitted with a dock. Lighted covered porch is great for outdoor dinners well into the evening. Outdoor, rock fire pit, is perfect for late night conversations.

About jill thornton

Hey there,

I've been living in Colorado for a long time. I'm originally from NY and IL. I appreciate the dry air. I came out to ski and never left. I start off my days taking the dogs for a hike on the near by trails, and if the lake is calling me, I take a little more time to start my day and head out on a SUP Board.

Last year I started renting the cabin to "GoFundMyself" I have a startup children's outerwear company.

So thank you for checking the cabin out!

Why jill thornton chose Heeney

After years of camping I wanted a comfy bed off the ground with a door to keep the bears at bay.

What makes this cabin unique

The Hummingbird Ranch is a great place to unwind. The deck over looks the lake and the view is beautiful. You can watch the eagles catch a meal in 1 quick dive or read your favorite book.

The path leads you down to the dock which is perfect to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail.

Enchanting Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A great location far from the maddening crowd, beautiful, magical place hummingbirds (many!) add to the magic of the place...if you go quietly and put your finger or arm near the always busy feeder, they sometimes land on your finger or hand and drink from the feeder. This was a highlight in addition to the mountains, Lower Cataract Lake, restaurants in Silverthorne and Kremlin. Overall superb vacation even for someone who has spent many years in Colorado (USAFA/Monument/Colorado Springs). Jill was a superb hostess, and helped out quite a bit. Hated to leave.
