4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in a beautiful, rural setting
Situated on 10 acres of rolling hills in Madison County, this homestead has something for every kind of traveler. Hike the land, enjoy the symphonic sounds of the pond, venture across the county for a tour of the historic covered bridges, or hop 30 minutes northeast to Des Moines. The town of Winterset, just 10 minutes to the south, is full of charming establishments, from antique shops to classic diners.
The property has a barn with two livestock stalls and a kennel with multiple runs and a large fenced-in yard available for your use. Animals are welcome on the land and in these two structures for an additional fee, but please do not bring them into the house. We have seven laying hens and a rooster in an enclosed space within the fenced yard as well, and welcome our guests to gather their own fresh eggs if desired.
The home is a ranch-style, with two steps leading up to the front entry.

Loved staying on a farm.
The view was amazing. My sister loved the wildlife sightings we had.
I loved the Kitchen and the Master Bath.
So glad you enjoyed your stay! You were wonderful guests. Hope you'll come back to visit Madison County again!
We loved our stay at Harriet’s guest house. It is very comfortable and a bedroom each for the 4 of us. Wide open living/kitchen/dining area so had plenty of room. LuAnn was great to work with, and we enjoyed meeting her. What a fun place to stay and then explore the Winterset area!
Great stay in the country!
The house is deceptively big and spacious. Fine household amenities.
Close to Winterset and about 25 minutes west of Des Moines.
Peaceful setting and plenty of wildlife to watch.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, James! Thanks for being such great guests. Hope you'll visit again!
Relaxing fun home
This was a nice middle meeting point for our family. Some from OK and some from WI. The home was what we expected. It was comfy, uncluttered, and easy to share. We would definitely stay again. We spent a lot of our time at the home playing games, cooking, and hanging out together! The countryside is beautiful. The surrounding area is a great place for a day thing...the cool shops, Bridges of Madison County, Wineries, etc. Two things we would like to be added for next time would be an extra frying pan or two (we enjoyed cooking together as part of our trip) and some outdoor seating to hang out at and enjoy each other and the views! Would definitely recommend!
