About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Nestled five kilometres from the picturesque hamlet of Tyne Valley lies Riverbank. A charming, three-bedroom, two-bath country cottage, Riverbank is reached via a kilometre-long earthen road lined in early summer with lupines and verdant farm fields. Perched on the quiet Trout River estuary, the cottage enjoys a private setting that affords visitors ample opportunity for tranquil strolls amidst the surrounding farm fields, relaxing kayak rides, and the perfect spot to absorb a favorite book in the shade of the cooling pines at water's edge.

Both a comfortable deck on the main level and an upstairs balcony off the master bedroom reveal breathtaking vistas of welcoming sunrises, the bucolic landscape, and brilliant sunsets. If serenity and natural beauty are pleasures that you enjoy, then Riverbank is the place for you.

Wonderful host and a nice house

  • 5 of 5

We spend one week and we really feel confortable in this nice cottage. Cliff and Barbara are wonderful people, very kind and always ready to help us but also very discreet. Cliff is a gardening lovers and has beautiful flowers in the alleys around the house. The place is very quiet and serene, with only the sound of birds and squirrels to wake you in the morning. The chalet is very comfortable and clean, spacious and well equipped. We were two couples and the two washrooms were very convenient. We did a great kayak trip on the river and ate delicious Malpeque oysters on Cliff advice. Truly a place to recommend if you want to discover western PEI and meet friendly people.

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Believe the reviews. This is a beautiful home. It is spacious and clean. However, it is the extra care and service of Cliff and Barbara, who live next door, that make staying here so special. Cliff showed us how to dig for clams and Barbara even baked us homemade rhubarb crisp :-) They brought us brochures and suggested activities for us and our teenage children. They are so very thoughtful and will go above and beyond to make sure that you enjoy your stay. We highly recommend that you stay at this beautiful cottage!

Perfect Family Retreat!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family vacation was one of the very best we had, no little thanks to this wonderful cottage. Beautiful location, close enough to day trip to activities, yet secluded enough to enjoy the peace of Tyne Valley. Extremely comfortable with enough room for our family of 5. And FRIENDLY! Cliff and his beautiful wife were always available to ensure we had the best stay possible and showed us some of the little known local activities which our family enjoyed greatly. All five of us would recommend this cottage to our friends, family and anyone looking to unplug, unwind, and connect with the beauty of PEI.

Amazing Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from this lovely cottage in the Tyne Valley. It's actually more like a little house and it is very spacious. Has a large kitchen and family room, great size bedrooms and the 1.5 bathrooms is very handy when you are travelling with a family. The cottage is impeccably clean and well looked after. It has everything you need in the kitchen and well stocked with extra towels and blankets. There is a BBQ, bicycles and kayaks to use as the cottage is waterfront along a little bay. The owner is very friendly and offered great recommendations of places to go and restaurants. There is a fantastic pub called The Landing close by and after being on the island for 1 week, I can tell you they had the best fish and chips and cod sandwich! Overall, wonderful family vacation and would come back to this cottage again!

Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely drive down the unpaved 'Red Dirt' road leading to Shoreline Drive. The Lupines were definitely at their best. We really enjoyed our stay at 'Riverbank'. The owner Cliff welcomed us upon arrival, showed us around and made sure we had everything we required for a comfortable stay even apologizing for the mosquitoes which we found to be in abundance everywhere in PEI. We loved this bright and clean cottage which was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay and found it very roomy for a group of 5 seniors. We found the location ideal for touring the island and Cliff and Barbara were extremely hospitable and helpful with suggestions of where to go. My husband enjoyed kayaking on the river at the bottom of the garden. Our only disappointment would be that our stay wasn't long enough as we didn't have time to spend more time relaxing at Riverbank after touring the different areas of the island each day.

You can't go past this accommodation. It was everything we had hoped and more. Although a long way from the main towns, it was a perfect place to start and end our days of doing the touristy stuff. Cliff was wonderful answering all my questions honestly and thoroughly when I was trying to decide whether or not it was suitable for my family with 2 teenage girls. We made the decision to take it and were definitely not sorry we did. We've been travelling for some time and this was our absolute favourite. Very affordable as well-you just would not get a house like this closer to the attractions for this kind of price. We loved the kayaks and the fact that we had our own private river. Carolyn also looked after us in Cliff's absence, helping us out when we had a problem with the water-was quickly fixed. The only things missing for a family of 4 females was an iron and hair dryer, but we managed-crushed clothes and wet hair is fine when on vacation :) We so wished we could have stayed longer and were very sad to leave. Thank you!
