Fairfield House is a fabulous traditional Island century home located directly on the ocean with a commanding view of Augustine Cove and the sea.
Southern exposure makes this south shore location and beach one of the warmest on Prince Edward Island. At low tide sandbars are exposed-leaving shallow tide pools that are warmed by the sun. This natural playground is perfect for swimming, walking and exploring; it is ideal for children.
Located centrally with easy access to Summerside, Charlottetown, the Confederation Bridge and beautiful Victoria-by-the-Sea, which is just next door. Numerous world class golf courses within a short drive as well as live theatre and excellent dining.
Fairfield House is located in a small community of private summer homes. The house has been lovingly restored and equipped with every modern amenity. The four bedrooms are spacious and easily accommodate large, comfortable beds. However the home's most spectacular feature is its tranquil oceanfront location, with the sea just steps from your front door.

"The weather was fantastic, visited L.M.Montgomery Nat'l Historic site, shopped for books & art in Charlottetown, visited local farmers markets and antique shops....recommend The Victoria Village Inn for an excellent meal"
Highlights:..."walking the red sandy shores on the hunt for crabs...touring the countryside...cooking the unbelievable seafood (Fairfield House has a well equipped kitchen). When it rains it pours! used this day to relax & enjoy all that has been left in this wonderful house...puzzles, movies etc...We will be back!"
Staying at Fairfield House puts you in a PEI state of mind. The century old home sits on peaceful Augustine Cove off of a quiet red dirt road. Each room in the house is decorated exquisitely with an "Anne of Green Gables" charm! There are amazing views from all of the windows offering ocean views from both of the king bedrooms and lush potato fields from the other two. We spent a rainy day making home made potato chips with fresh picked, delicious PEI potatoes and playing games in the lovely parlor. After gorgeous sunrises over the cove we began our day opening our Bibles and sipping coffee on the deck overlooking the water. At days end we stargazed by the sea. The ever changing tides gave opportunity to walk and explore the cove. Sue and Alan are very attentive and responded to us within a few hours of our inquiries. They are warm, friendly and committed to making your stay comfortable. The house has an abundance of towels and linens including beach towels. A must is to experience "Wicked Fries" in Morell while biking the Confederation Trail. The beautiful country roads offer endless scenic rides. Victoria By The Sea is a quick ride with charming stores and tree lined streets to meander around. This is truly a special home and we are grateful to have spent time with our family here.
Our family had a wonderful time at Fairfield House! It is centrally located, so far less than an hour drive to many desirable locations - Cavendish and North shore, Charlottetown, Summerside, and beyond! We enjoyed having the water at our doorstep, and walking the beach during lower tides was a great way to spend time, looking for shells, sandcastle building, wading in the warm tidal pools, etc. The house itself is very large and spacious, we are a family of five and it was more than adequate space for many more than that number, lots of living area beyond the bedrooms, and a lovely view from all rooms, particularly the water views from the living room and screened sun porch. The house is decorated very tastefully but not at all fussy, and our kids 9-14 were very comfortable. The house is well provisioned with everything you need to set up in a home away from home, and the hosts are very welcoming from the time of booking, to sending info about the house and PEI destinations prior to our travel, to the end of our stay. The only regret we have about our trip is that we only had a week to spend in PEI! Next time we come to Fairfield House we hope to plan for a longer stay.
Our party of six recently returned to Northern Ontario after a one week stay at Fairfield House and we are already talking about returning again with a larger group! To say that our stay in this beautiful oceanfront century home was magical would be an understatement. In fact, I would easily attribute such glowing accolades at the risk of sounding over romantic, but with good reason. This home is spacious, bright, functional, beautifully appointed, private, updated, clean and happily situated on the scenic Augustine Cove.
Although a historic house, it has new bathrooms and a very well stocked kitchen. There is also a spacious room with new laundry facilities and a walk-in ironing room. There are two living rooms with very comfortable sofas and chairs and a large sunroom that stretches across the front of the home facing the ocean. The outside deck is also large and well appointed with good quality adirondack chairs. There are added touches to the home such as two pairs of binoculars, tons of beach towels, books, tourist guides, magazines, jigsaw puzzles, games and a plethora of "Anne of Green Gables" material including a full set of the books.
The bedrooms have amble closet space and the mattresses and linens are top quality. Although the home is furnished in a nice mix of antiques and modern furniture, you never get the feeling that the items are "hands off" and we felt right at home as soon as we walked in the door.
The home is centrally located and easy to find. The drive to either Charlottetown or Summerside was easy and all the other attractions that PEI has to offer. As we are from Northern Ontario, driving any distance for dinner, groceries etc... is the norm, so we planned for supply pick-up in conjunction with our outings and did not find the private cove in any way isolated. Secluded and private yes, but not isolated with Charlottetown and Summerside less than one hour away.
All our inquiries were handled in a very timely manner by Alan and Sue Manning and questions while we were at the house usually answered within the hour. The welcome package that was mailed prior to the visit was also very helpful in planning our trip to PEI and the gift of PEI jams and tea upon our arrival was a very nice touch.
Do not hesitate to rent this historic home if you have a group from 6-10 as the ocean view, spaciousness, surroundings and appointments of this house cannot be overstated. Five star all the way
Great place to get away from it all and have time for yourself and your family with amazing scenery! The house is beautiful, well equipped and exactly how it looks in the pictures. My family of 5 had a great time, flying kites, playing games, walking on the beach, kayaking and driving around the island.
My idea of a perfect beach house! Decorated with seaside colours and treasures. Old but well appointed and maintained. Lots of space and well stocked with books, games, videos for rainy days. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc. for the gang. The beach provided hours of fun exploring. Victoria By the Sea is a charming village and the north shore an easy 45 min drive. We so appreciated all the info that was sent to us re the home plus sources and activities on the Island. It was a treasured time for our family with lots of great deposits in our memory bank. We hope to visit again. Thanks for sharing your charming beach home and all the creativity that adorns it!!
We had a wonderful time at Fairfield House. The house was beautiful, well stocked, comfortable. We had a toddler- the house is lovely for young children-- plenty of books/toys available. We especially loved exploring the gorgeous red sand tidal flats everyday- plenty of beach toys to muck about in the sand. At low tide the water is so warm and shallow it's perfect for small children. We made lovely seafood meals with the outdoor cooker, BBQ'd, etc. A real oasis. A bit off the beaten path for good groceries, but just gives you a reason to make a trip into town to stock up and explore a bit more of the island! We would definitely return. :)
Quiet private area, numerous exceptional golf courses within a short drive, close to all attractions, deep sea fishing, beachcombing, bird watching, scenic drives, excellent restaurants, craft shopping, antiquing and live theatre all nearby.
