About Kathi and John Jaworski

We met in Maine, but have lived in Eugene Oregon (an hour west of the cabin) for two decades: the McKenzie River area reminds us very much of Maine without the teeth-aching cold! We purchased this cabin from our neighbor in Eugene in June 2017, and hope it will be our retirement home some day, and maybe a family tradition for our five grown children and two grandchildren (so far!) to enjoy for decades to come. John is already retired and an active community volunteer. Kathi consults with nonprofits throughout the state. We pinch ourselves that we have a cabin, this cabin! And we are excited to share it with people who will find it relaxing and treat it as if it were their own. We love to travel near and far- our most recent trip was to Vietnam. Now that we have the cabin, we have a hard time tearing ourselves away!

Why Kathi and John Jaworski chose McKenzie Bridge

We LOVE the McKenzie, and have fantasized for years about someday being able to live here! In 2016, we hiked the entire 26 mile stretch of the McKenzie River Trail over two days, and that further stoked our appetite. When our neighbor casually asked us if we knew anyone who might be interested in purchasing his vacation cabin, we heard the universe presenting us an opportunity we only dreamed out. Furthermore, Kathi had done consulting work in this community, and so we already knew several really good, community-minded people. In fact, they recruited us to work the annual ice-cream social the first week after closing!

What makes this Cabin unique

Amazing view of the river in a section where the rapids are a constant presence: A massive screened in porch on the back, overlooking the river. In fact, river views from every room but the bathroom The cabin is only 10 years old, and full of character: we love the big river stone fireplace, the bedroom window seat, and the surprisingly large kitchen. We also like that it's wheel-chair accessible for relatives now and ourselves perhaps later. We love the location- you can come here and never use your car until you leave. Within walking distance, there are restaurants, seasonal entertainment (movie night, live music), a beer garden and full bar, and a small grocery store with an excellent wine selection. We like that the cabin is not isolated by itself in the woods, but rather is part of a group of cabins around a common open space. It's sociable but quiet- the river is a calming influence. We have arranged discounts for our guests with several local businesses. We have had a lot of fun outfitting our cabin for guests as we tried to include everything we'd ever wish for when we travel! The only thing missing is a tropical beach!
