About Susan Miller

Joe and Susan Miller purchased their first timeshare in 1986 in Massanutten's Mountainside Villas. We lived in the Tidewater area at the time (Chesapeake and Portsmouth). Prior to that we grew up in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and graduated from Fairmont State College. Over the years we have enjoyed wonderful memories with family and friends here on the resort property. Our children, now 37 and 35 were 10 and 8 at the time. That was before the water park and many other fabulous amenities that we now enjoy. We can't wait for our children and their families to come and see our new home. We now live in Bradenton, Florida and our children are in Atlanta and Miami. We have a granddaughter who we can't wait to get here to enjoy Massanutten, Moccasin Mountain Lodge, and all there is to enjoy here.

Why Susan Miller chose McGaheysville

The location of Moccasin Lodge is ideal! It is a short drive to golfing and the ski slopes. We love to golf and really love the two courses on property. We are excited to bring our granddaughter here and teach her to ski and watch her splash and play in the water park! We have been wanting to buy in Massanutten for a while now. Since we live in Florida, we don't get to see our family (from Virginia and W.Va.) often. We have family and friends in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Leesburg, Richmond, Chesapeake, Newport News, and all over W.Va. We also want to bring our Florida friends to see our beautiful resort.

What makes this house unique

We selected Moccasin Lodge because of it's tasteful décor, it is clean and roomy, and it is perfect for all of our siblings and their families. The back deck provides serenity and relaxation while we are on vacation, yet the size of the house opens a great recreational feel with the pool table, hot tub, and we have flat screen TVs in every bedroom. The residential neighborhood gives us an opportunity to interact, and the location provides us with so many choices from Frisbee golf to visiting wineries. We also love the reenactment of the "Shoeless Battle" that is held in May.

Wonder how Moccasin Mountain Lodge got it's name? The early settlers that came over from Orange County, Virginia said that the mountain appeared to look like an Indian shoe when they were looking at the mountain from Orange County. They decided to call the Massanutten Mountain Ridge "Moccasin Mountain".

Great place for large group and nearby to activities

  • 5 of 5

We booked Susan's place in Massanutten for a Hokie reunion bringing 4 couples together with toddler and babies. The house is great for that situation and would have easily fit another two couples. We find large "cabin" homes while can sleep many, have awkward sleeping situations to accommodate which is not the case with this home. We went on a nearby hike and mostly relaxed at the house and watched the babies play. The main level was great for babies and the toddler as you could contain them quite well in the living room. The only thing that would make it better is if there was hiking out the front door or with an easy path to walk so we didn't need to drive to trails. Susan was great to interact with, very responsive. We would definitely keep this home in mind for any future reunion trips to the area!

We would highly recommend this property! The house is tucked away in a scenic spot and our group of 13 had plenty of space for activities and rest. The property owners were also excellent to work with.

We where overall pleased with the house & the ammenties. Since we have young grand kids it would have been nice to a flat yard for the little ones to play in.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Beverly. I'm glad you were pleased with Moccasin. You are right about the yard. Moccasin is surrounded by beautiful trees on the top of a hillside. Hopefully you enjoyed the many playgrounds, mini-golf, and other children's activities throughout the resort.
