Greenville, Squaw Mountain, and the Appalachian Trail may be only a few miles away, but Bear Cove Hideaway, in some ways, trumps the amenities in the area. No swarming visitors—just you, your friends, or that someone special tucked away in a rustic 2400-square-foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin, with 11,000 of acres of highly private reservation land, and moose, deer, and other wild life surrounding you. The cabin was newly built in 2017, and combines all of the modern conveniences of home, including TV and the internet, with the quiet tranquility of the woods. Wake up to spectacular sunrises and the sounds of bald eagles and loons. In Autumn, you’ll find the kind of Technicolor fall foliage that is typical New England. In the Summer and Fall, you can ATV, fish for perch, bass, or trout, and hike, literally footsteps from your back door. In Winter, the more adventurous can enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling in the trails that abut the property. The house comfortably sleeps six, and while it allows you to toast marshmallows by the fire, hunt, or catch up on the latest bestseller, it also offers a unique opportunity to just sit and do nothing at all.

About Diane Aldrich
Travelling to the Brassua and Moosehead Lake region from MA in the Fall of 2016, Boyd and Diane Aldrich quickly fell in love with the area. Both of them have highly stressful corporate jobs and nothing relaxed them more than enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the lakes, and fishing for whatever was biting that day. Bear Cove Hideway, as it's become to be known, was a shell of a home when they first found it. Nothing existed but the outside logs. Coincidentally, Diane's son, Anthony, was a general contractor and he took on the task of relocating to Maine and building the interior in the dead of winter in February, 2017. Through blistery snow storms, he framed walls, installed all electrical and plumbing, laid hardwood flooring, tiled, masoned rock in the kitchen, everything. Originally built as a family home, all work was performed with meticulous care and love, to create a showplace that Anthony's 18 month old daughter could later proudly say was built by her daddy. There wasn't a single inch of that cabin that wasn't developed. We are now offering it up for rent so that others can enjoy all of the beauty and activity this area has to offer.

Perfect blend of rustic and modern
My wife and I stayed here for our 1st Anniversary. The cabin is gorgeous! The picturesque log walls and huge fireplace combined with the modern kitchen and bathroom gives you then best of both worlds, old and new. Will definitely recommend to friends and revisit!
You are such a sweet couple! We loved having you and are so glad you enjoyed a romantic anniversary in the cabin, and were able to relax in front of the fireplace. The two of you and Henry are welcome back any time...hope to see you on your 2nd anniversary!
Best, Boyd and Diane
Beautiful Lake Home
Wonderful house on the lake. We had a great time relaxing for a couple of days. Diane and Boyd were very responsive and the house had everything.
Thank you very much for the kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Bear Cove Hideaway and the local Rockwood area. It was a pleasure having you and hope to see you soon. Kind regards, Boyd and Diane
Cannot say enough how truly relaxing our stay was at this lodge. We enjoyed the creature comforts while we felt like we were camping. We hiked, canooed, paddle boarded, swam, fished visited Quebec City & Greenville Junction. On down time, we read, napped, had BBQs and Bon fires. Exactly what we were looking for, WONDERFUL stay!
Thank you very much and we are so glad you were able to unwind and take in the local area. You were a pleasure and hope that you will choose Bear Cove Hideaway the next time you are looking for a relaxing vacation.
Best wishes, Boyd and Diane Aldrich
This vacation home was beautiful and I would recommend anyone to go and relax from everyday stress.
The house was amazing. Beautifully decorated giving the feeling of coziness and serene. The lake was clean and clear perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. The fishing in the area was great and anyone who loves the outdoors needs to vacation here for sure.
The PERFECT Weekend Getaway!!
I wish there were more stars that we could give to Diane and Boyd for their hospitality and Bear Cove Hideaway for its perfection! My boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing, fall weekend getaway from Portland and that’s EXACTLY what we got! From the moment we were greeted by Diane and Boyd at the front door, Bear Cove Hideaway felt like home! The attention to detail in their newly renovated property makes all of your wildest Pinterest dreams come true! If you type cozy, rustic, cabin into Pinterest, Bear Cove Hideaway should be the first thing to pop up! Diane and Boyd did a phenomenal job – so good that we never wanted to leave! The Aldrich’s thought of everything – all the coffee accoutrements you could want and more, a year supply of firewood for three days, top-notch cooking supplies to make great meals, the shampoo and conditioner that we forgot to pack – they really went above and beyond. I would recommend Bear Cove Hideaway to EVERYONE as I think there is something for everybody to enjoy! There is hiking nearby, we took their canoe out on Brassua Lake, did some fly fishing, sat by the fire and read, played board games, drove around the area looking for moose – as I said, it was the perfect weekend getaway! We will absolutely make this a new fall tradition, that is, only if we can stay at Bear Cove Hideaway!
Ashton, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, the cabin, and all of the beauty of the Moosehead/Brassua Lake region! You were the perfect guests and we are honored that you want to make Bear Cove Hideaway your vacation destination in the future. We look forward to your next stay! Boyd and Diane
Very secluded a quiet. A perfect getaway
BBQ'd the first night (grill and charcoal were available on the top deck) then enjoyed the fireplace after dinner. Hiked Mt Kineo the next day and had dinner at the Birches (old school dinning but a great value) which was within an easy drive of Bear Cove Hideaway. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed.
So glad you enjoyed your stay, were able to enjoy the local sites, and saw the foliage that is beginning to peak up here. You, your wife, and your friends were the perfect guests. Thank you for coming up and we hope to see you in the future.
