We recently purchased a 4 BR, 2 BA, 1496 square foot Old Tahoe Cabin in Marla Bay, just steps from the Marla Bay private beach, and just five minutes from the Heavenly Ski Area. The only item that the previous owners left us was a red canoe, which we found among debris under the front deck - we removed it and placed it in a position of honor in the front yard. We have cleaned up the cabin with new paint, new window sealing, new caulking, new electrical, but still keeping the Old Tahoe feel. There are antique wood floors throughout in good condition. The beds (3 QS, 1 Bunk) are all in good condition, as are the linens, towels, pillows, dishes, and small appliances. All bath essentials are present, including shampoo, conditioner, soap and a hair dryer. The kitchen floor is new, and the kitchen has an older electric range, dishwasher, refrigerator, disposal, original vent fan, with new retro microwave and toaster, and other appliances (coffee maker with coffee, etc.), and dishes/utensils for 12. There is a new cable television and internet service (you should be able to use your own Netflix or Amazon account). We just recently added a combination clothes washer/dryer that seems to work well.
The cabin has a nice wood-burning fireplace with a pass-through for the wood, so no going outdoors in bad weather. There is plenty of hot water and a gas forced-air heating system. There is a private back patio that has a gas grill and some outdoor seating, as well as a wood burning fireplace to keep you warm in cold weather. There is a storage area outside that can be used for skis, boards, sleds, etc, as well as a lot of water toys for enjoying the lake (kayaks and SUPs, as well as bicycles can be safely stored on the back patio). We are currently offering a “Skier’s Special” that includes a pre-paid $30 certificate for beer and pizza (or whatever) at our newest hot spot - Tahoe Aleworx - located next to Harvey’s Casino. The Marla Bay neighborhood is extremely safe and friendly, but there must be no loud noise after 9:00 PM. There is no parking on the street, but the driveway can hold four cars (very carefully - Old Tahoe, in this case, means trees in the paved driveway).
There are wonderful lake views from the living room and the front deck. As well, three of the four bedrooms have good views of Lake Tahoe. All four bedrooms have large built in closets, along with four drawers for storage of everything that you can bring with you.
Regarding pets. Although we do not have any pets, we understand that pets are family members and dogs especially are apt to travel with the rest of the family. We do have a minimal pet fee of $100, but we do wish to have certain limitations on them. Notably, we do not allow pets to get on the furniture, including the beds and/or couch, so we ask that our pet owning guests enforce those simple limitations, as some of our guests are also allergic to dogs and cats, and it becomes very difficult to remove all hairs and dander in a relatively short turn-around cleaning time between guests. Thank you for understanding, and if these simple rules are not enforced, the entire security deposit will be in jeopardy.
This is a wonderful house to spend some time in Lake Tahoe and enjoy what the area has to offer. We live in Zephyr Cove, so if there are any problems, we can usually be there within a very short time. Our goal is for your enjoyment.
If I were to want to spend only a week here, I would want to spend it HERE. But we live here year round. This house is literally across the street from the lake, and the short walkway to the beach is 300 feet from the house. It would be difficult to find a better location for year round activities.
