About the property

Wonderful Old Tahoe Cabin with 4BR, 2BA and updated essentials, very near beach.

We recently purchased a 4 BR, 2 BA, 1496 square foot Old Tahoe Cabin in Marla Bay, just steps from the Marla Bay private beach, and just five minutes from the Heavenly Ski Area. The only item that the previous owners left us was a red canoe, which we found among debris under the front deck - we removed it and placed it in a position of honor in the front yard. We have cleaned up the cabin with new paint, new window sealing, new caulking, new electrical, but still keeping the Old Tahoe feel. There are antique wood floors throughout in good condition. The beds (3 QS, 1 Bunk) are all in good condition, as are the linens, towels, pillows, dishes, and small appliances. All bath essentials are present, including shampoo, conditioner, soap and a hair dryer. The kitchen floor is new, and the kitchen has an older electric range, dishwasher, refrigerator, disposal, original vent fan, with new retro microwave and toaster, and other appliances (coffee maker with coffee, etc.), and dishes/utensils for 12. There is a new cable television and internet service (you should be able to use your own Netflix or Amazon account). We just recently added a combination clothes washer/dryer that seems to work well.

The cabin has a nice wood-burning fireplace with a pass-through for the wood, so no going outdoors in bad weather. There is plenty of hot water and a gas forced-air heating system. There is a private back patio that has a gas grill and some outdoor seating, as well as a wood burning fireplace to keep you warm in cold weather. There is a storage area outside that can be used for skis, boards, sleds, etc, as well as a lot of water toys for enjoying the lake (kayaks and SUPs, as well as bicycles can be safely stored on the back patio). The Marla Bay neighborhood is extremely safe and friendly, but there must be no loud noise after 9:00 PM. There is no parking on the street, but the driveway can hold four cars (very carefully - Old Tahoe, in this case, means trees in the paved driveway).

There are wonderful lake views from the living room and the front deck. As well, three of the four bedrooms have good views of Lake Tahoe. All four bedrooms have large built in closets, along with four drawers for storage of everything that you can bring with you.

Regarding pets. Although we do not have any pets, we understand that pets are family members and dogs especially are apt to travel with the rest of the family. We do have a minimal pet fee of $100, but we do wish to have certain limitations on them. Notably, we do not allow pets to get on the furniture, including the beds and/or couch, so we ask that our pet owning guests enforce those simple limitations, as some of our guests are also allergic to dogs and cats, and it becomes very difficult to remove all hairs and dander in a relatively short turn-around cleaning time between guests. Thank you for understanding, and if these simple rules are not enforced, the entire security deposit will be in jeopardy.

This is a wonderful house to spend some time in Lake Tahoe and enjoy what the area has to offer. We live in Zephyr Cove, so if there are any problems, we can usually be there within a very short time. Our goal is for your enjoyment.

If I were to want to spend only a week here, I would want to spend it HERE. But we live here year round. This house is literally across the street from the lake, and the short walkway to the beach is 300 feet from the house. It would be difficult to find a better location for year round activities.

Location, location, location. Just steps from the private beach and just a couple of miles from the skiing at Heavenly. We recently restored everything, including new paint, electric, deck, furniture, beds, etc. This is a great rental property in a beautiful location. The house stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

What makes this house unique

We recently bought this property, and it was pretty run down. We have sanded and stained the floors, painted all the walls, doors and window frames, caulked and glazed where it was needed, painted the front deck, added outside lights, new grill, new patio furniture, new landscaping, re-did the windows and screens (while still keeping the Old Tahoe look and feel), installed high speed internet and HD TV, and added a bluetooth radio and audio system. Enjoy coffee in the morning and wine in the evening with great lake views from the table and chairs on the front deck. This is a fabulous place to stay in the summer as well as the winter, as the proximity to both the private beach in Marla Bay and the great skiing at Heavenly, Northstar, Mount Rose, and Diamond Peak provides plenty of activities.

If you like an Old Tahoe place, you will like this place. Decorated nicely, good beds, nice kitchen facilities, high speed internet, great Lake Tahoe views from the front deck and three of the four bedrooms. Just a hundred yards or so from the Marla Bay private beach, the house offers comfortable beds, clean rooms, plenty of closet space, nice kitchen facilities with an outdoor propane grill, plenty of space for eight people, and much privacy. You are walking distance from a nice restaurant and bar. Very nice Old Tahoe cabin, so near the lake.

Everything you could possibly want in Tahoe - private beach, close to all, great house, lovely hosts

We were very lucky to be the first family to rent this special cabin in Marla Bay. It was perfect for our family of four, and our dog. The house and location lend itself to making everything easy and at your fingertips. It’s just steps from a private beach that is dog-friendly, but also a few minutes from Zephyr Cove and other popular beaches. The house is also close to everything you could need – from 24hr Safeway to Heavenly to the restaurants in South Lake. We even enjoyed the local haunt Wally's Huddle just outside the entrance.

The property itself is lovely. You can tell that the owners put a lot of TLC into this house and consider it a second home, not just a rental. It seems like one of the last original homes in the area, so it still retains the Tahoe feel with knotty pine, original floors, and fireplace. With views from almost every room, you never lose sight of the lake- and the sun sets right in front of you! The upgrades make the house enjoyable as well. There is a tv and cable, Bluetooth speakers, comfortable beds and linens, a giant grill, and a kitchen with all the equipment you could want. The bedrooms are all good sized, with lots of windows that you can open to let the breeze come in. The front deck has lake views and we had coffee there every morning and watched the sunset with a glass of wine every night.

The community itself is very quiet, and the silence was a welcome change from the city. I highly recommend this place for families and couples looking for a peaceful getaway. I also wouldn’t wait to rent this place, because it is unique in this price point and will not last long. We can’t wait to get back.

The last additions were the blinds on every window and the mattress covers, which arrived one day prior to your arrival. We took the beds out of our house in Zephyr Heights, so we know that they are nice and clean, as they were just used sparingly in our guest bedrooms. And so glad that your young girls enjoyed the house and the beach - that information made it special for us, as we even put Joan's old schoolhouse desk in their bedroom for their enjoyment, along with a couple of puzzles and games for their use. Come back anytime - perhaps during ski season. We will let you use a couple of our Epic Buddy Passes at Heavenly ⛷.

We know that the address says Glenbrook, but that is the address that VRBO wishes to verify. The house is actually in Marla Bay, which is located within Zephyr Cove - not Glenbrook. The map has it in the correct location; the zip code is 89448. The house is immediately across the street from the Marla Bay beach, and the walkway to the beach is just 300 feet from the front yard. It would be difficult to find a house closer to the beach with ease of access. In addition, Marla Bay is only 5 minutes away from the Nevada side of Heavenly (the best side), and that site has free parking just steps away from the lifts. There is a restaurant (Toast Tahoe) and a sports bar (Wally's Huddle) within a short walking distance from the house, and several nice restaurants nearby.
