Guest Interaction:

We honor the level of privacy that you prefer. Because we live in the upstairs portion of the house we are available, if we're not working. If we are around and available, we would be happy to welcome you upon arrival to give you a personal tour of your space and to share ideas about where to go and what to do while you are visiting, if that would be of interest to you. However, you will be provided with a key code, so you can let yourself in.

NOTE: We live in the upstairs two floors of the house. The apartment takes up the ground floor. So you may hear us walking around overhead from time to time. We also have two dogs that may also walk or run around from time to time. We are all mostly very quiet, and we don't play loud music or TV, and we go to bed by 10 or 11. But if you don't like hearing anyone over your head at all, then this may not be the vacation rental for you. Rest assured that we cannot hear guests in the apartment, unless they are talking very loudly, and even then, we cannot distinguish what is being said. Just as we do our best to be quiet, we hope our guests will also be respectful of noise.

About Susan Ward

I design educational programs, and am also a freelance photographer. However, I grew up in the hospitality business (my parents owned a chain of restaurants), and I have long enjoyed hosting visitors and making them feel at home. I love to travel and I being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and SCUBA diving. I also love to cook.

Why Susan Ward chose Waynesville

Candlefire Cabin is a charming log home set in the woods in a quiet neighborhood. The guest apartment occupies the ground floor of the home, and has a private entrance. It's a great place to come relax after spending the day exploring the surrounding areas.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the views of the lake through the trees from the front of the property, and taking walks through the quiet streets that wander down to the lake. There is so much to do around this area, and we love the scenery and ambience of Haywood Country.

This is a great little apartment well off the beaten track but very accessible to the highway. It has every thing you need, a well-equipped kitchen, very clean and quiet.

Nice Cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is well taken care of and clean. It also had all the kitchen items we needed and had a lot of games provided for us. It was also close to town. The one and only issue was how you could hear anytime someone was walking or moving up stairs.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review! This is definitely an apartment in the lower part of a residential log cabin, and not a separate dwelling. As hosts, we live in the upper two floors of the house above the apartment, so guests are bound to hear us a bit when we move around. We also have two dogs who may, from time to time, run around a bit when we get home after being out, or after we are up and about in the morning, though mostly they just sleep a lot. :) We mention this in our listing details, but wanted to restate it here. We are a very quiet couple in our mid 50s, and we never play loud music or TV, and are very respectful of our guests sleeping hours. We also tend to go to bed early. But we do live here, so can't promise guests won't hear any noise at all. On the flip side, we can't hear our guests unless they are talking very loud, and even then we can't distinguish anything being said.
