PRIVATE STRUCTURE. An old farmhouse dating back to the beginning of the last century, Le Grillaie is the result of careful restoration done by the current owner. Fine finishing touches, combined with a valuable collection of antique furniture and details of a highly personalized style, that tell a story of great passions and distant journeys, have rendered it a refined and very particular country house, equipped with every modern convenience. The villa is set in a magnificent park and surrounded by a lush, colourful garden, presenting its guests with a natural setting of rare excellence, to be appreciated for its harmony and for the incredible feeling of peace that it evokes. The property is located in the Upper Valdarno, an area of particular charm and environmental importance for the peculiar topography of the area, characterized by the typical gullies or cliffs. Halfway between Florence and Arezzo, and close to Siena, it is a great departure point, in the centre of evocative artistic and cultural itineraries, for visiting the art cities of the region and the villages of Chianti, such as Greve, Radda and Gaiole, and for admiring the wonderful natural attractions of the area, especially the reserve of the Parco di Vallombrosa, with its imposing abbey.
MAIN HOUSE. The main villa has two floors. The entrance hall on the ground floor leads directly into the open-plan living area with sitting room, dining room and fitted kitchen. On this floor is also a twin bedroom, a toilet and the laundry room. A wooden staircase leads up from the entrance to the first floor (also accessible from the outside via a flight of stone stairs), consisting of two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathroom, one with shower and the other with shower and Jacuzzi tub (reached directly from the room via a spiral staircase). Annex 1. About 180 m from the villa, it has a single floor composed of an open-plan area with sitting room, dining room and kitchen and a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with tub. Annex 2. About 200 m from the main villa, it has two floors. The open-plan ground floor is composed of a living area with kitchen and dining room; down in the basement is a sitting room and a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with tub. Annex 3. About 100 meters from the villa, it is composed of a kitchenette, a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The 3-hectare property is completely fenced-in. In the well-kept lush green park, the paths leading to the annexes and outdoor areas are surrounded by large expanses of lawn, adorned with tall trees that create natural areas of shade. Borders of Mediterranean herbs alternate with neat rows of cypress trees; on one side is a rich assortment of fruit trees; the garden is a burst of colour and scent where lemon trees and climbing roses, in all shades of colour, are the absolute protagonists. The wooden portico next to the entrance of the main house, immersed in this ideal setting and furnished with table, chairs, divans and armchairs, is perfect for alfresco breakfasts and for enjoying moments of true relaxation. Near the portico is a brickwork barbecue. A wooden construction, set in the proximity of one of the three annexes, houses the old stables.
The large, sunny infinity pool is set in the middle in the park, and is accessible from the main house and the annexes across the garden or along the picturesque path lined with cypress trees. The rectangular pool, with travertine stone border and sand-coloured PVC lining, measures 16 x 8 m with a depth varying from 1,20 to 2,10 m and has Roman steps for access to the water. The pool has a remote-controlled cover and external and internal lighting. The solarium area, paved partly in terracotta and partly in wood, is equipped with elegant sunbeds and chairs. Right next to it is a brickwork structure, set up for cooking and eating, where guests can spend pleasant evenings in the outdoors. And, finally, there is an outdoor shower and a bathroom with hot-water shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.
