About owner/property manager

My husband and I have been fortunate to travel the globe together - some of our favorite destinations include Uganda, New Zealand, Italy and Hawaii. Now that we have two small children, our adventures happen a little closer to home but we hope to instill in our kids the value of experiencing places, food and cultures different than our own. I am a Medical Anthropologist currently working as research faculty in the College of Medicine at the University of South Florida and my husband is a middle school art teacher.

As Midwestern transplants to sunny St. Pete, FL we are thrilled to have landed in a place where the sun shines 364 days a year and we never need to use a windshield scraper. In the eight years we have called St. Pete home, we have watched it grow from a sleepy beach town to one of NY Times most recommended destinations in the world. Since we moved here, St. Pete has become world-renowned for its arts, craft beer scene, excellent restaurants and, of course, the beaches. Yet it retains the historic charm, diversity and sleepy, small-town feel that initially attracted us. Flip flops are acceptable everywhere here.

Why owner/property manager chose Historic Uptown

This has been our family home for close to eight years. We are renting our house because we both work in Tampa and the daily commute now with two small children has become too difficult. While we hate to leave our St. Pete life behind, we hope that others will love and enjoy our home and our city as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

As hosts we aim to provide our guests with all the amenities and extras that will make their stay smooth and restorative. Comfortable beds with crisp clean linens, good coffee, board games, beach gear, etc. We want our guests to feel at home and will be responsive to their needs and requests.

Lovely Home

  • 5 of 5

The house is a lot more spacious than photos suggest. Everything was well-stocked, and very cozy. Perhaps the only thing it's lacking is a music speaker (but maybe we couldn't find it!) so make sure to bring your own if you like to listen to music. Safe neighborhood, and close to all St Pete has to offer. My bridal party and I got ready here before my wedding. It is a very photogenic home, with the perfect historic Florida vibe. Street parking is limited, as it's a historic brick-paved road - but this was not a problem for us, as we only had one vehicle. We also had a delay with VRBO posting the access code online for us, which sent me into a bride-panic-attack on the evening we were supposed to check-in. But after a call to the VRBO assistance phone number, they were able to provide us the code. The host was very apologetic and sweet. I feel very nostalgic about this home, and hope someday we can stay here again to reminisce about our wedding weekend <3 Thank you Amanda for such a memorable stay!

Perfect spot for stay in St Pete

  • 5 of 5

Great bungalow with classic details in every room. The whole house was very comfortable with nice beds, baths and great places to sit and hangout. Private backyard space with lights and grill also a plus. We liked the neighborhood and could easily walk to many restaurants.

We came to St. Petersburg for wedding planning events. The entire family was comfortable and had plenty of space to spread out. Enjoyed the twinkle lights in back - all of the games that were provided as well as how clean and well stocked the entire house was. We seriously had the BEST time and felt very safe and very comfortable. Amanda has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. She had plenty of towels, toiletries, cleaning supplies, tissue - literally everything you might need, it's there. Thank you so much for the great communication, too. We got a LOT accomplished and excited to be back in December for the wedding. <3

A Little Piece of Heaven in St. Pete

  • 5 of 5

The charm and the soul of this home will forever be remembered. The meticulous details to make you feel at home are very hard to miss. We were very impressed with how attentive and welcoming the owners of the home were to us. I appreciated how clean this home felt as I suffer from allergies. We are very glad to have found this little piece of heaven in St. Pete. This special home will forever be on our list of one the best places to stay in St. Pete.

Historic Uptown is one of the most centrally located historic neighborhoods in St. Pete. Our home is 5 blocks from Central Avenue shopping and restaurants, a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute bike ride) to Beach Drive and the downtown bay beaches, and a 15 minute drive to some of the world's top-rated beaches on the Gulf including Pass-a-Grille and Ft. De Soto. Rent a bike from Historic Round Lake Park located at the corner of our street, pack one of the included camping hammocks and take a leisurely 5 minute ride through lovely historic residential neighborhoods to the downtown beach for a day of lounging in the sun. Visit 1 (or all) of 7 craft breweries within walking or biking distance from our home, or spend a day gallery and museum hopping at the Chihuly Collection (0.8 miles), Dali Museum (1.4 miles), Museum of Fine Arts (0.8 miles) or any of the independent galleries lining Central Avenue. End the day like a local at the St. Pete Shuffleboard club, a true St. Pete institution located one block from our home. Our neighborhood is truly in the heart of all downtown has to offer yet it offers a quiet retreat from the crowds. We look forward to welcoming you to our home where you can truly live like a St. Pete local!
