Camden Harbor - a 7 minute walk - is one of the most beautiful harbors in Maine. The town is surrounded by mountains. The neighboring houses are 19th and 20th century New England; nearby are Chestnut and Bayview streets which boast the homes of an established summer community. Lake Megunticook is a mile away and the town's public beach on the harbor is a ten minute walk. Rockland's Lobster Festival is 8 miles south, as are ferries to North Haven and Vinalhaven.
Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: I'm a retired founder of an alternative high school now volunteering with kids through two local non-profits. I'm an active camper and kayaker, spending much of the summer on Maine's offshore islands. I create and maintain the gardens surrounding the house. I have an extensive library and a well-equipped kitchen.
Why the Owner Chose Camden, Camden, ME, USA:
I came to Camden in 1973 and have lived my adult life here after growing up in New York City. Perhaps everyone carries an inner landscape she can recognize as 'home;' mine is Maine.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house has sunlit rooms, a shady private deck in back, a very spacious master bedroom, and the architecture of a 19th century family home. Gardens line the driveway. I love my home and am glad to share it for your private use.
