This house is an old-fashioned, wood frame, three-story building with a large, modernized, sunny kitchen leading to a backyard deck. There are a bathroom and two additional rooms on the first floor with many couches and chairs. Both couches can be used as beds. One is a n unusually comfortable pull-out couch and one an extra long single. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, one bedroom has a double-size bed and the third has a double and/or a single. On the third floor is an attic space with a double-size mattress.
The setting is a quiet residential street a short walk from Camden Harbor and town. Nearby parks, hiking trails, ocean ferries, schooners, and numerous lakes makes this location an ideal spot for a glorious Maine vacation.
The owner lives in the house when not renting and it is fully furnished.
I'm a retired founder of an alternative high school now volunteering with kids through two local non-profits. I'm an active camper and kayaker, spending much of the summer on Maine's offshore islands. I create and maintain the gardens surrounding the house. I have an extensive library and a well-equipped kitchen.
The Owner purchased this house in 1991
I came to Camden in 1973 and have lived my adult life here after growing up in New York City. Perhaps everyone carries an inner landscape she can recognize as 'home;' mine is Maine.
The house has sunlit rooms, a shady private deck in back, a very spacious master bedroom, and the architecture of a 19th century family home. Gardens line the driveway. I love my home and am glad to share it for your private use.
I spent a week traipsing around New England... Camden, ME and Dora's home was my favorite!! Dora was there to greet me when I arrived and was so sweet and welcoming. She was very helpful and informative about the area and things to do and places to eat. My room was large and very comfortable and had everything i needed. Location was perfect...just a short walk to the main drag and the beautiful harbor. Just as picturesque as you hope a city along the water in Maine would be! Highly recommend dinner at Long Grain, pastries and dessert at Cappy's bakery, and a 2 hour harbor ride. For amazing panoramic views of Camden, take a quick drive up to the observation tower up Battie Rd. I would absolutely stay here again! Thanks Dora!!
We had a great time at doras cosy house. It was really nice she came by to say hallo. Just a view minutes to walk for everything in camden. The garden is very beautiful and dora is doing a good job for the bees. Thank you for having us, Heidi, Cynthia, Bernd and Stefan
This house was just what we were looking for. It is affordable, in a great location with easy access to the ocean and shops, Hannaford for cost effective grocery shopping, and could fit lots of people. The kitchen easily accommodated all 14 of our eat-in meals. Dora is a pleasure to work with, If we are able, we will go again.
This is a very comfortable older home, roomy and full of charm, with the personal touches of the owner. We had a very nice stay over the Memorial Day weekend, walking to the nearby harbor and downtown shops. The kitchen is newer with plenty of room to prepare for the gathering of our clan. We made use of the three comfortable bedrooms and the space in the attic, which should be used by adults who do not sleep walk as it has the typical steep stairway of this style house. The first floor bath room is modern. The upstairs bath is updated with claw-foot bathtub and shower curtain. The roominess of the house and nearness to downtown contributed greatly to our enjoyment of Camden.
Camden Harbor - a 7 minute walk - is one of the most beautiful harbors in Maine. The town is surrounded by mountains. The neighboring houses are 19th and 20th century New England; nearby are Chestnut and Bayview streets which boast the homes of an established summer community. Lake Megunticook is a mile away and the town's public beach on the harbor is a ten minute walk. Rockland's Lobster Festival is 8 miles south, as are ferries to North Haven and Vinalhaven.
