Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 12

There’s plenty to do both in the immediate vicinity of Black Bear Overlook and in the 3-bedroom cabin itself. Located just 5 minutes from the Pigeon Forge Parkway, the town’s main thoroughfare, Black Bear Overlook is close to all the area’s attractions, from Dollywood to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. What’s more, the log cabin is filled with so many amenities, you might find yourself hoping for a rainy day so that you have time to enjoy them all.

The fun starts in Black Bear Overlook’s game room, downstairs in the lowest of the cabin’s 3 floors. Here you can choose between shooting pool at the full-size (and quite handsome) billiard table and play at the foosball table. If you’re more of a spectator, head to the home theater, settle back in one of the cinema-style seats, and watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV. Don’t forget the popcorn!

For even quieter pursuits, step out onto one of the cabin’s 3 covered decks—there’s one for each floor, each spanning the width of the home and offering awesome views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bring a beverage and kick back on one of the rocking chairs as you watch eagles and falcons soar across the sky. Or better yet, head up to the top deck and watch the sunset over the mountains while luxuriating in the hot tub. Now this is what a Smoky Mountain vacation is all about!

A wall of windows on the main floor lets you gaze out at nature’s grandeur even while you’re relaxing in the open-plan living/dining area. Stretch out on the sofa to watch TV, curl up on the settee with your tablet to take advantage of the free WiFi, or gather by the stone-surround fireplace for après-ski drinks. The sofa, by the way, opens into a bed for 2, enabling Black Bear Overlook to sleep up to 12 guests.

The cabin’s proximity to the parkway means dozens of restaurants are just a few minutes’ drive away. But sometimes nothing beats a home-cooked meal—especially when you can look out at the mountains as you’re dining. Happily, the cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen. From a full-size oven for cooking a holiday turkey to a blender for making margaritas or milkshakes, you’ll find all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you’ll need. The dining table seats 6 people with ease, and because the chairs are so comfortable padded, you’ll want to linger long after dessert is finished. Bring your Scrabble set or card deck, and let your family dinner segue into family night.

Two of the 3 bedrooms are master suites, with a king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, and a full bathroom, making the cabin well suited for 2 couples or families vacationing together. The bedroom on the main floor has the advantage of being near the kitchen, should you have a hankering for a midnight snack. The upstairs suite includes a Jacuzzi in its bathroom, just the thing after a day of hiking, white-water rafting, or exploring every inch of the outlet shops. A ladder in the suite leads to a sleeping loft that can accommodate another 2 people.

The 3rd bedroom—and the 3rd bathroom, for that matter—is just off the game room. With a set of queen-size bunk beds, this space can sleep 4 people. If there are kids in your group, we’re sure they’ll volunteer to make this their bedroom

When you stay at Black Bear Overlook, you can do it all… or do nothing at all and simply soak up the beautiful vistas? Experience it for yourself: Book your stay today!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great for our family vacation that included 5 adults and 4 kids. It was clean, the neighborhood was quiet and the views were wonderful. We used the pool, even though we didn't have the passes it said we needed on the gate - I figured I could show them we were staying there on the app if anyone asked, but no one did.

We hope to visit again soon!

Great place to celebrate the Hubby’s 40th

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was absolutely beautiful and had plenty of room for my family and 2 other friends families we invited to come with us! We really wanted to take all the kids swimming in the communal pool that was listed on the website but there were no directions ANYWHERE on where it was! I emailed through the app and asked about it but no one answered me until it was after dark so we didn’t get to take them swimming. I finally drove around and found the pool but there was a sign on the fence that said we needed a paid pool pass to use the pool or we would be asked to leave. So again, I had no clue how to get that or if I needed one. Also, we bought food to grill out one evening but all 3 of the propane tanks in the cabin were empty. My husband called maintenance but by the time anyone called us back we had already cooked the food on the stove. Other than these 2 issues, our stay was wonderful. The hot tub was nice, the beds were comfy, and we had a great time!

Owner's Response: Alicia, thank you for staying with us and...Happy Birthday to your Hubby! We are glad you had a wonderful stay. We are sorry about the confusion over the community swimming pool in this resort and that your family missed out of a swimming day. The issue has been resolved and the pool passes will be in the cabin for guests to use. We are also sorry that the propane tanks were empty. We are working with our inspectors to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. Thank you for your comments, and we look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies.

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we really enjoyed the stay at this location. Beautiful view, really spacious. The place was a little dusty and there were a few things that were broken. But overall we loved the place, the area. I would definitely go back at this location. I don't like the fact that the check in is at 3pm. For the amount of money we paid, the check in should be earlier than 3pm

Owner's Response: Hello Walter, thank you for staying with us. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and the location of Black Bear Overlook. We appreciate your comments and suggestions. With the high volume of visitors that stay in our cabins, if check in was any earlier it would be difficult for housekeeping to clean each property and then have adequate time our inspectors to ensure cabins are ready for guest. We will work with housekeeping on the dust and we will be doing a complete property assessment to see what is broken. Again, thank you for sharing. We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies.

Clean

Overall the cabin was good. The place is smaller than what u see online but it was still good enough for us. The only thing I don't think it made since was, for a cabin that can sleep up to 12 people the washer and dryer is not standard size. Other than that is was good. I would stay here again. And u don't get access to the pool either and that should be included on all the cabins. Are at least everyone should be aware of that.

Owner's Response: Thank you Theresa for staying with us and for taking the time to share. We appreciate your comments and suggestions. We sincerely apologize to you for not having access to the pool as advertise. We were unaware at the time of your stay that the passes had not been issued for Black Bear Overlook. We are working swiftly to rectify the situation. Again, thank you for sharing. We hope you will stay with us again on your next trip to the Smokies, giving us the opportunity to exceed expectations.

The cabin was beautiful, but did have some issues

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the view was stunning! We did have some issues- the lighting above the pool table was not working- we were told to bring lamps down in order to see the table. Kitchen supplies were very minimal- there was no microwave dishes or storage containers. Overall the family had a wonderful time!

Super location

  • 5 of 5

Overall this place gets all 5 stars. Layout was very comfortable for 12 people. Place was very nice, clean and had the most beautiful view from all 3 floors. Everything worked well except the WiFi. I’m not sure if it just an issue out there or just this place. So if you have to depend on WiFi, like I had to for work, from time to time, you may need to check on it.
