A very nice stay on the "quiet side"

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't really do justice, this is a really nice house, well- equipped for all our needs, overlooking a nice quiet cove on the quiet side of MDI. We enjoyed the sunset views from the deck, and it was a terrific home base to explore Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the rest of the island without having to make any long drives. Our sons, 18 and 20, also really enjoyed it, as did our small dog.

Fabulous Maine Experience - Million Dollar View

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this "camp" a few years ago (the date would not let me go back far enough, but I think it was 2012), and it was one of the most memorable vacations our family has shared. The house is pretty basic, so if you are looking for a luxury experience, this isn't it. It was extremely clean and well-stocked and had every basic comfort. Cozy! It is off the beaten path, with a driveway that goes on and on and on...(we loved it and enjoyed taking walks back and forth!). The best part about this house is that it is completely private! You are in your own little world, and that view.... it's a million dollar view no matter the weather! We trekked down the steep trail every morning and evening to the very private cove that was all ours the entire week. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had, and made sure we had the real Maine experience. Would love to go back soon.

Beautiful House - a Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We (2 of us) visit the Bar Harbor area every summer and are never disappointed. I gave up staying at hotels after learning about renting beautiful houses for the week. Staying at Sea Watch was no exception! The house was immaculate, wonderfully decorated, and best of all, secluded and quiet. September is a perfect time to visit the area because it's less crowded and you escape any heat waves. Coming up from my temporary home of Mississippi the last thing I want to do is experience hot days. We always enjoy some sort of boat excursion. This gives us one day in Bar Harbor proper. Other than that we enjoy hiking the numerous trails in the area. Best of all is coming "home" with the lobster and some of the excellent beer from local breweries. Mornings were a real pleasure at the Sea Watch too. I liked sitting on the expansive deck with a cup of tea and a book early in the morning. The owners were great hosts. Since it was getting chilly in the evenings Bill came out and turned on the furnace. We had a very enjoyable chat with him. As an extra bonus he allowed us to stay a bit longer on our last day since there weren't tenants coming in on that particular date. This made our trip even nicer since it was so hard to leave. I took some amazing photographs and one is being used as the screen saver on my iPad. I highly recommend the Sea Watch.

Perfect Family Camp

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing experience at Sea Watch. The property had every amenity that we needed cable TV, dishwasher, and even a washing machine. The house was extremely clean, the kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and more. If you are looking for a five start resort experience this is not the property for you. The house has more of a camp feel then a luxury vacation villa, this enhanced our Maine experience. We loved being tucked in the woods with the mature furs framing our view to the cove. Sunsets from the deck were breathtaking. The property offers great privacy and tranquility. The best part of the location is the nature around you. Rabbits visited the lawn nightly; we saw weasels, deer, osprey, and loons. Ruth and Bill were available to answer any question or concern we had. They offered a very informative letter with restuarant and activity recommendations. SIPS and Red Sky were our favorite restuarants.
