Incredible stay in a quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Me and my girlfriend were looking for a place to stay within the totality zone of the great american 8-21-17 solar eclipse. We came across this cozy little cabin on HomeAway and were very fortunate that we did.

First off, this cabin is situated on the family's property a little ways from their home just enough to provide adequate privacy for their guests. Our first impression was that this is a solid built cabin made with great craftsmanship. The cabin was well decorated and definitely fit the whole cabin in the woods type theme. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary utensils and included a mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom has limited space but that's coming from a guy who is 6'4 at 280 lbs, my tiny girlfriend had no troubles maneuvering around the bathroom whatsoever.

The loft is situated upstairs and is a cozy area with two twin beds situated on either side. We arranged our sleeping area so our beds could be adjoined. The AC unit looks very new and kept the upstairs area nice and cool as we slept. The stairs leading to the loft were a bit steep and we had no issues getting up or down, however if you are very elderly or have a leg injury then this may be a bit of a challenge.

Overall this cabin exceeded our expectations for what we were initially looking for. Most places were either fully booked up or were price gouging even for primitive camping, so this was certainly a huge relief to us as we figured we would just have to settle for what was available... instead we ended up with much much more.

Right from the get go, Anne was very quick to communicate that if there was anything that we needed that we could reach out to her. She was very responsive, available, and very much accommodating. They made us feel right at home and was even kind enough to take us to a location so we could all view the eclipse together. It was an incredible experience and one we will not soon forget.

Owner's Response: Dido...You were such a joy to have stay here! You did a good job explaining the space in the cabin, thank you. It is like a quaint, efficiency apartment in a cabin. Everything is small, yet the walk around space is very comfortable. The AC and refrigerator are new as well as we newly just added a wifi extender to make wifi accessiblity and speed to meet everyone's needs anywhere in the cabin!
