Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

"Wow! You have great views from every room !"

-direct quote from our first honorary guest Ken

Thus, our log home found its name... "Mountain View"

Come ready for action or relaxation as the spirit moves you! Our "Mountain View" Cabin located in Laurel Lakes community at Lake Lure has it all. Rest and soak in the spectacular mountain views and enjoy our three acres of forested and open areas. This brand new (Jan. 2007) custom log home has over 2300 square feet of heated/air conditioned space with mountain views from nearly every room! It comfortably accommodates eight to ten guests with three enclosed bedrooms, a separate loft area with sleeper couch, and finished playroom basement with sleeper sofa.

Early risers will relish the stunning sunrise from the back balcony. Then, plan your activities for each day: explore our "Mountain View’s" natural forest and our cleared areas designed for archery, BB-gun practice, or paint ball. Hike around our community or bicycle along our paved roads. Or drive 15 minutes and marvel at the scenic view of breath-taking Lake Lure with its fun-filled water park/beach, boat rentals, varied restaurants, and quaint town of Chimney Rock. Without a doubt, you MUST visit majestic Chimney Rock Park and hike along the heady Sky-line Trail featured in the film Last of the Mohicans. Later, treat yourself and sign up for an evening boat cruise of idyllic Lake Lure. Or, for more active pursuits, visit nearby golf courses.

As each day unfolds, swim or fish in our own private lake in Laurel Lakes community . To have a truly memorable trip, you must tube down the Broad River. Come back and kickback with "Mountain View’s" game room with air hockey, foosball table and electronic dart board. Or play board games in the loft on a hand made checker board table with pine-hewn stools.

Another favorite activity is to relax and enjoy the afternoon sunset with rockers and barstools on the front porch for Happy Hour Views of Chimney Rock. After preparing dinner in our fully stocked kitchen (complete with spices), make your way down to the backyard fire pit area. Use the cut logs provided and gather kindling to build a safe fire. Or in cool weather, take it easy and light up the easy gas fireplace with its remote.

As you can see there are many choices! And isn't that what makes a great vacation in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains?

Spectacular 360-view from porches and balcony with Chimney Rock view from front porch. Every room has an ideal view; thus its name!

Pine furniture with rooms decorated in bear, moose, and fish themes

Just a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautiful, clean, and well equipped. I spent hours on the deck looking at the view. It is just lovely there, and the interior is spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood around the cabin felt safe, and with the tree line it provided almost total privacy. I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely quiet log home

  • 5 of 5

We stay at 2-3 VRBO's every year. This was one of the nicest homes we've rented. The kitchen was well stocked with most everything we needed. Loved the quiet Bosch dishwasher. Wished the main floor tv was a little bigger. The extra high bathroom sinks were a little odd but steps were provided. Enjoyed the nice deck.

Fabulous cabin - great location!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our family vacation. The cabin is well appointed. We especially enjoyed playing ping pong. It was a great way to tire a 4 year old out by having her chase after the ball! The decorating throughout the cabin was more extensive than most rentals I've stayed in.

The location was great. The neighborhood is very quiet and lovely. It was close enough to Lake Lure beach as well as Rumbling Bald. We enjoyed a private boat tour on Lake Lure (which was well worth the small upcharge versus the typical pontoon boat tour). Dinner at Larkins was wonderful, as always! Everyone loved the Flowering Bridge (near the visitors center) which is "free", but please consider a donation as this garden is maintained by volunteers who graciously give of their time and talent for all to enjoy! Unfortunately, the elevator up to Chimney Rock wasn't operating; major disappointment! Visits to the Biltmore House and Sierra Nevada were both a hit. The mini putt putt course in Chimney Rock was a lot of fun with a beautiful setting.

John was responsive to questions prior to our stay. We would definitely stay again and would highly recommend this rental. I have stayed at several Lake Lure rentals. John's cabin is, by far, the best as far as value, location and amenities.

The only drawback was the construction materials in the driveway and deck. As we had a small child with us, we didn't want to risk her getting a nail in her foot or tripping on construction materials. We couldn't use the back deck which was a disappointment as it gets plenty of shade in the afternoon.

Amazing cabin and summer vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a tremendous time at the cabin and would like to thank the owner for his hospitality. The cabin has lots of room, has amazing views of the mountains, and is the perfect family getaway for a visit to the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area. In addition to spending a lot of time at Chimney Rock park and its village (we highly recommend eating lunch at the Riverwatch restaurant on their back deck on the river), we also took trips to pick apples near Hendersonville, visit the incredible waterfalls of Dupont State Forest (Triple Falls and High Falls were a real treat), and paid the South Slope area of downtown Asheville a visit as well to check out the many family-friendly brewpubs they have to offer (just make sure your group has a DD!). Overall it was the perfect end-of-summer mountain vacation that we needed before the kids go back to school, and we can't wait to go back to check out all of the things we didn't have time for on this trip. Kudos to the owner for providing such nice and comfortable accommodations to make it such a memorable visit.

Just fabulous!!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are visiting the Lake Lure area I highly recommend this property. The views are spectacular and the home is beautiful. When we first arrived we couldn't help but notice how clean it was. The kitchen is well stocked and the appliances are top of the line. The bedrooms, bathrooms and basement are so cozy and tastefully decorated. My son had a blast examining all the knick knacks throughout the home. At the end of our busy days and evenings we looked forward to coming "home" and settling in for night in such a serene setting. Needless to say we had a hard time leaving. John was a pleasure to deal with and we would absolutely stay there again when visiting the area.

First blended family vacation in the mountains! 7/15/17----7/22/17

  • 5 of 5

If you want to be in the mountains, in a cabin, with a great view, create family memories, and actually hear and see nature then this cabin is for you. My family stayed a week and each day we had a itinerary. Our excursions included Chimney Rock( climbed to the VERY top), Mount Mitchell (GORGEOUS!), Black Mountain, Grandfather Mountain (a must with the family-though $$), The Blue Ridge Parkway (beautiful), Sliding Rock/Looking Glass Falls (A must do!!), Blowing Rock (For us parents a secret paradise we found), Lake Lure (Beach, swimming, boating, ice cream, pizza, miniature golf), and green cove tubing (probably the best family day excursion). The cabin has everything you need. Many ping pong tournaments went on downstairs. Plenty of fire wood. Coffee every morning on the porch was our highlight! Its the simple things you appreciate! The cabin was very clean and prepared for us. Met the builder of the cabin while we were there and wow--thank you for the beans! Owners are very nice and easy to work with and have made it easy for anyone who stays there. I encourage anyone who wants to be in the area of Lake Lure to take advantage of this cabin. You will not be disappointed.
