We invite you to stay in our secluded two bedroom, one bath home. It is nestled in the quiet woods where the sounds of birds, and a nearby stream provide a feeling of instant tranquility.
The home has a cozy glowing wood lined cabin feeling, although the furniture is all new. There is a front porch and small grassy lawn for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air which is lovely and cool at this altitude.
Come and get away from it all and relax in this mountain hide away among the rhododendron and rustling trees of the Cashiers Plateau. You will find lakes, stunning waterfalls and pristine hiking trails within the surrounding areas.

Warm and inviting, nearly off the grid, but comfy.
This cabin very nicely decorated and comfortable, even when near 0 degrees outside. Ms Carla was a welcoming host, she had plenty of extra bedding, along with special little touches. These included candies, travel size toiletries, games and DVDs. It was pretty spacious for 2 teen boys and us. The kitchen was well stocked, and included many items like coffee and sugar. There is a washer/dryer combo inside, although we didn't use it. There wasn't Wi-Fi, or cable when we stayed, and at&t cell service only worked at the base of the mountain. It is well up on the mountain, don't trust Google maps to get you there, call Carla. There are views of wooded areas and a couple small creeks on the property. Its not too far from Cashiers NC, and many waterfall sites as well as beautiful Lake Glenvillenear by. Stock up on food, as many eateries in town are seasonal, but we loved Slab Town Pizza and a BBQ place just west of Cashiers on hwy 64. We would definitely recommend Ms Carla Luker and a stay here.
Way off the grid.
This place was very lovely and cozy as was the owner. You don't remember have much fun you had as kids without cable and internet...until you don't have cable and internet. Now relaying that fun to your teenagers tests your creativity! So pack your reading materials and board games and get ready for cookie baking and story telling. Beautiful spot for family bonding or cuddling with no interruptions. Breathtaking sights and several lovely towns surround the area if you'd like to go for a drive. And make sure you print out good directions before you leave because GPS is NOT always reliable in the mountain areas.
Very clean and beautiful cabin. Has everything you need.
Really enjoyed our stay. Very clean cabin. Beautiful and very quiet surroundings. Most accommodating host Carla. Love it all. Will visit again.
Thank you for the kind words about your stay at FernWood.
It was great meeting you and your family and we look forward to seeing you all again.
Solitude in the mountains
This cabin offers an "off the grid" get away that is peaceful and at a beautiful part of the smoky mountains. Owners live close by, are very friendly and accommodating. You will enjoy this getaway and can see beautiful sites of waterfalls, trails and Glenville Lake
