This quaint 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage sits right in the middle of the resort. It is easily accessible to the Village Plaza, Swim Center Pool, and the beach! And best, it comes with a Wild Dunes SportsCard to access the amenities.

Upon entering the property, the kitchen and dining room are adjacent from each other. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you need to prepare a delicious meal.The dining table seats 6 guests. The first sitting area has comfortable furnishings and is a great spot to read a new book. It leads into the main living room which has a flat screen TV and an additional dining table.This table seats 4 guests and is perfect for a family game night, or more dinner space.

When entering the property to the left, there are two bedrooms and a shared hall bathroom. The front left bedroom has two twin beds and a TV for your viewing pleasure. The back left bedroom has a queen bed and also accesses the deck. These two bedrooms share a hall bathroom which has a combination unit with a shower and bathtub. Off of the main living room sits the master bedroom. It has a queen bed, and an updated bathroom with a shower only.

The property has Wi-Fi, parking for 4 cars, and is a great location!

Basic casual property

We arrived just before 5:00 and the code would not open the hidden key box. It took four calls to reach someone at the number provided and thankfully Kevin was on the island to come out to open it. (Friendly and easy to work with!). It was record cold temperatures and sadly we lost hot water on the next to last day, so thankfully Kevin had some quick ideas to restore it in time for New Year’s plans.

As to the house itself- at the risk of sounding snooty, it’s not something one might expect based on what we had read about IOP. It’s a lake house type property in a very dark and heavily treed spot, with every cottage the same. Not a lot of sunlight (again, it was super cold and not typical weather at all!), and the very closed in kitchen is completely removed from the living spaces, so there is a feeling of not seeming you’re anywhere near a beach. Maybe creating a great room type feel vs a huge dining table to welcome guests would help make it feel more open?

Bedrooms are nice size, bathrooms small but functional, nice appliances and washer and dryer are a plus. Every doorway and the change from

Main room to sunroom type area have uneven steps and flooring, again causing a somewhat unsafe move about for anyone who has difficulty seeing or walking.

This is a casual, easy rental maybe for two healthy couples or a family with kids, but not at all easy for us with our older parents or as a family gathering type space on vacation. I will be more careful next time to look for thos details, so while I would not rent here another time, I would certainly suggest it for others seeking an inexpensive and casual rent on IOP. And once again- much appreciation for Kevin’s kindness!

Two other suggestions- there could be hangers in the closets (not a one) for travelers. I think in today’s travel world people like TVs in bedrooms

as well, especially in bad weather!

The house is REALLY dated and could maybe use some modern touches while still keeping cottage charm. Some pieces of art and furniture are perfect, but others are old and pretty uncomfortable. Important to note there are many stairs to get in, so we had a tough time with our 88 year old parents. (My fault, I should have asked- and simply went by the “all one level” description).

The Isle of Palms consists of 5 miles of beach and the northern tip ends at Wild Dunes Resort. It is very close to Sullivan's Island, and Mt. Pleasant, and is only 15 miles to downtown Charleston. There are many activities very close to enjoy- sight seeing, restaurants, golf, tennis, water sports, jet skiing, boat rentals, Isle of Palms Marina, and Isle of Palms Recreation Center. The Harris Teeter sits right beside the Isle of Palms Connector for your grocery needs. The Isle of Palms front beach is also a great choice for restaurants and souvenirs.
