About ania Welin
We are parents of three totally cool kids and enjoy working, living and loving in Wilmington. We own a local business and have lived here for nearly 20 years (actually Josh grew up here!) We live nearby and can promise you this is Wilmington's coolest neighborhood.
ania Welin purchased this Apartment in 2012
Why ania Welin chose Wilmington
This is the best spot to in Wilmington to wind up in if you want easy-access to the beach, downtown, shopping the university, the hospital. Carolina Place is a beautiful, wonderful, historic family-oriented neighborhood centrally located smack the middle of Wilmington. The house is on the main corner in the crux of the Carolina Place. The Carolina Place neighborhood is the very best in Wilmington. This is a historic area composed of treasured homes on city blocks with sidewalks - most of the homes are now over 100 years old and lovingly maintained by mixture of old and new residents. We know one another, people walk about, kids are out on bikes. Our apartment is 2 blocks from lovely Wallace Park with Burnt Mill Creek running through it, and 4 blocks from two different coffee shops. We have a neighborhood wine bar with live music on the weekends and another about to open. When you do leave Carolina Place, you will only be minutes from most of Wilmington's many exciting and beautiful destinations. We live nearby and can interact as little or as much as our guests prefer. We know Wilmington well and we can offer suggestions of where to go, shop, eat, park etc. as well as insider tips about local happenings. We are aiming to provide an amazing experience for our guests and want them to feel at home in our sweet little apartment. We are only a text away, but the 2nd story apartment is totally private.
What makes this Apartment unique
We are situated about 20 blocks from the downtown waterfront, and in less than 10 minutes visitors can be picking up groceries at Whole Foods or Trader Joes, or our local Food Coop Tidal Creek. UNCW, or the Wilmington International Airport are only a few minutes up the road. If you just head down Wrightsville Avenue until it ends, you will wind up at the beach in about 15 minutes. Our public transportation system is not great but parking is easy and once you are downtown (walkable, easily bike-able) you can walk everywhere or use the free shuttle to get around. Cabs or Uber from the airport are cheap and easy. 'We stayed at Ania's place for 2 weeks. This was more than initially planned, but worth every minute. Her apartment was perfect, exceeds expectation. Besides great stay, Ania took the time to show us around and make us feel like locals. This part we appreciated so very much, since we got to feel real Wilmington (which is great!). We are from the Netherlands and are on a trip around the world. Our Wilmington time will stay with us forever and will repeated. Thanks Ania, family and friends!!' 'Ania was such a gracious host. When we arrived, we found Ania had provided local organic coffee for us to make in the morning. So sweet! Everything we could possible need was provided. My favorite memory here was listening to Patsy Cline while getting ready to attend a wedding in Wilmington. The atmosphere was warm, cozy and the space is absolutely beautiful.'

Charming apartment within walking distance of downtown
My husband and I recently brought our mothers to Asheville to enjoy the downtown area and the Biltmore Estate at the beginning of their Christmas season. Not only was this apartment reasonably priced, it is within walking distance of downtown and sits next door to a diner that serves the best breakfast. The owners have thought of all the right touches to welcome any prospective guests, from the towels set out, lights turned on for us, and the organic chocolate bar on the kitchen counter. The owner even sent a message the next morning asking how things were going and was willing to share local recommendations. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
cozy and comfortable
great location, everything we needed, comfortable bed.
Home away from home!!
I am thankful to have found this charming, quiet home for my visits to Wilmington. Ania is an attentive and "real" host. This home is a reflection of her gift of hospitality. It is a short walk to downtown, there is plenty of parking,
and has all of the comforts of home. I look forward to returning soon.
We had such a perfect stay at this place! A nice, quiet escape, but still accessible from downtown and all the fun. Lovely, cute little place that accommodated all of us very well! :)
What a wonderful place to stay!!
Our stay in Wilmington and in Ania's beautiful home was absolutely DELIGHTFUL! Ania was a wonderful host, and made sure everything was taken care of; also she was super accessible if we had to get ahold of her:)
The house was AMAZING. The character and decor of the house was something that took our breath away, and absolutely enhanced our trip. Such a cute house, with so many fun things to explore even just within the house.
We had no problems whatsoever, and hope that one day, we can go back again. Wilmington rocks!
Carolina Place Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 337 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Wilmington. The district developed as Wilmington's first planned streetcar suburb between about 1906 and 1941 and includes notable examples of Queen Anne, Classical Revival, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Our neighborhood is family-friendly, centered around a well-used, clean and aafe park and within walking distance of downtown. The neighborhood is vibrant and its an easy (.3 mile) walk to coffee and a cool wine and billiards bar that hosts live local music several nights a week. We have a tattoo shop and doggie daycare right nearby and scores of cool things to do only blocks away.
