Guestbook comments from the manager

This was our first trip to Beaver Lake and our first time renting a vacation home. We have really enjoyed our stay. Your home is lovely and we felt comfortable here right away. Enjoyed the cabin decor and the books. Also love the leather rocker. Hope to be back sometime when it is cool so we can spend more time on the porch. Thank you for making your home available. Tucked Away Cozy Waterfront

This log cabin is great for a family of four, but if like us a family of five works well too. Main thing is it’s cleanliness and for that we give kudos. Everything was clean, even in the corners. Love the screened in back deck for morning coffee and evening lounging. Short walk down to the dock was nice. Dock is great, although we didn’t use it except to sit and read (still chilly during spring break week). Having a fire pit with chairs provided outside the cabin was great. Inside was cozy and well decorated for a cabin, but plenty big to move about. Nice driveway. Last mile In was gravel/dirt but well kept. Not a fan of the couch at all. It was clean, but very uncomfortable to sit on IMO. Don’t forget charcoal!

very peaceful place to stay.

my only issue it was very steep climb back up from the lake. My dad isn't in good health and wasn't able to go down to the lake because of the climb back up.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and am sorry that the path to the lake was too steep for your Father to enjoy the water's edge. Unfortunately, what is "flat" to one person, is another person's "mountain" and it is always so difficult to try and give an accurate descriptions that is good for every person reading it. We do try to post as many pictures as possible, but again, there is always that possibility someone sees something different than the next person. With all of that said, this cabin has one of the FLATEST, most LEVEL walks to the lake of any home on Beaver Lake, so we probably could not have found a home that was going to let you Father walk to the lake. Again, I'm so glad the cabin was enjoyable for you all and thank you for reminding us that definitions are always up for interpretation.

Remote and rustic but relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Want to stay in a rustic and remote location, but want modern conveniences? Latham’s cabin is a perfect fit! My husband and I are city dwellers, so we needed to get away from the noise and crowds, but we aren’t really into roughing it. Latham’s cabin had a basic kitchen, Internet (we both work online), and TV. But our favorite pastime was sitting on the screened porch and watching the leaves fall from the trees. The only negative experiences we had were the water pressure wasn’t great in the shower, the fire alarm kept quietly chirping randomly throughout the day, and the DVD player would randomly mute the sound of the discs we watched. But, honestly, we would go back again in a heartbeat. It was a charming & lovely location! Might make a trip to Latham’s cabin every year during the fall. It was worth it!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the information on the fire alarm (it is always impossible to tell when the battery is going to die, we change these monthly, but that doesn't always prevent this) and the DVD player..(will get that replaced immediately). Often times our guests don't want to be bothered, but please know that we are right here, within 5 miles of the cabin and would gladly fix those type of issues during your stay; just let us know about them. Thank you again, and you are welcome to come back anytime!! Thank you again!! Karen & Melaney

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed our stay! We immediately replaced the coffee maker, thank you for letting us know. Unfortunately, those issues just never seem to come up when we are preparing a home for guests...Murphy's law. All of our phone numbers are made available to every guest they can contact us during their stay, we strive to take care of these types of situations while they are here, rather than after they leave. Again, thank you for making us aware of this and we'd love to see you back anytime! Karen & Melaney
