Great Place Needs some TLC

We have been going to the keys for Lobster Mini Season for many years. The house that we usually stay at got sold so we are looking for a new place to rent for a week every year at the same time. Unfortunately, this place will not be it. The location is awesome. The house itself is great. But the dock space is not what we need. No proper way to tie the boat. The air conditioner was not working properly while we were there and had to have repair guy in twice while there. It was leaking water into the hallway. All they did was band aid it. Bedrooms where very warm. There were towels in the dryer when we got there and dishes in the dishwasher. The pool was cloudy and pump not working while we were there. Sent a guy out while we were there and a day later the whole pump started spewing water. Never got fixed while we were there. Mini season is the same time every year. You know ahead of time when its coming. This is just normal Florida maintenance. I live in South Florida so I understand this. I have paid less for more well kept places. Not a terrible place just needs some TLC.

Owner's Response: As for the dock, we haven't had any negative feedback before this but will look into ways to improve. We are sorry for the AC and pool problems during the guest's stay. It was the first air conditioning problem we had in the summer and responded right away with a service call by a certified AC technician. Unfortunately, the service company mis-diagnosed the problem and it required another visit. The AC was replaced with a brand new unit a few days after the guest left and that was the earliest available date it could be done. The pool filter was a 2nd example of a mis-diagnosed problem and required a 2nd visit. We did everything we could to get the problems fixed as quick as possible and not sure what else we could have done. We will look into getting different service companies. I sent the renter a check for the inconvenience they encountered. We strive to give the traveler the best possible stay here!

Great Location

We have been to Marathon several times and have always rented homes this house was beautiful spacious and a great place to entertain our family!! We had six adults sleep comfortable in this home. Gregg was responsive to our needs the first day! We were also able to dock our pontoon boat with no issues thank you for the extra cushion it was perfect! The pool was amazing and great for our grandson with the area that was shallow! Plenty of lounging chairs for all!

Great home from home for families

House is in a quiet, well-kept neighborhood. There's a general aviation airport nearby and we were initially concerned about potential noise but we barely noticed it. The house has a nice flow and is very comfortable. Kitchen is fully equipped and very spacious. Bedrooms have lots of storage and bathrooms are modern. Modern washer/dryer here also - come home with a suitcase full of clean clothes if you want. We were there with our two teenagers and we had plenty of room to spread out. Kids enjoyed the heated pool, fishing from the dock in back of the house and internet access over the wifi (basic UVerse: 20 down/ 2 up). The property manager was very responsive to requests. Never did figure out the recycling rules - they pick up manually and anything they don't like gets pulled out. Items that we recycle at home ended up in a pile in the driveway for us to pick and put in the regular garbage.

The local restaurants reasonably priced given that this is an island economy, but they are only OK in terms of meal quality and service. Important to remember that fine dining is not why you should be coming to the keys !! The supermarket is only a mile away, so we ate in about half the time. There's a nice gas barbeque on the porch that we used quite a bit. Key West is an hour and a half away and do-able as a day trip. Scuba diving is excellent here, as are fishing opportunities. We used Captain Hook for our diving trips - it's 5 mins from the house and they run a really good operation. They also have snorkeling trips twice a day. The reefs here are spectacular. If you like beaches and people, Sombrero Beach is the way to go. If you like beaches with nobody on them, Coco Plum is outstanding. Overall, nothing negative to say - we would repeat.

Beautiful spot.

It was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning was excellent and it had everything we needed. Pool was a nice to have as the weather was hot and sunny every day. In a great location to access both the upper and lower keys. Lots of amenities including groceries and restaurants. I would definitely recommend it.

Great place to stay.

This house is lovely and clean. The beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed and we were close to all the fun activities and restaurants. I would definitely rent again.
