About Cathy Carey
I am an artist and my husband is an engineer who loves to golf! We live in San Diego where I teach art classes at my studio and at the Art Institute of California/San Diego and Brian is a program manager in the design engineering industry. We have two beautiful girls, our good natured golden retrievers. We both love music and met swing dancing, which we also enjoy when we are in Santa Fe, where there is a lively dance community!
Cathy Carey purchased this Condo in 2006
Why Cathy Carey chose Historic Eastside
For my 40th birthday we took a vacation to Santa Fe, and we both fell in love with it. I started coming back to Santa Fe after that to teach painting workshops every summer. The first time I came here I knew it was someplace special! The artistic community, fantastic restaurants, culture, shopping, people, architecture and music in the Plaza, it was a full sensory experience! In 2006 my husband and I decided to purchase a condo for our own use and as a future retirement home. Now I teach here in the summer and every other week I paint in the studio I make in the garage. You will see many of my paintings adorning the walls of the condo, Artista Casita!
What makes this Condo unique
Several times a year I try to get out and enjoy Santa Fe and to paint the colorful changes. September and October are my favorite times, with the aspens turning in early October. I love walking on the dirt trails all over our neighborhood and overlooking the city with the mountains all around. July and August are wonderful with the music in the plaza and all the summer foliage going strong, outdoor dining and late summer sunsets. Christmas season is magical with the pinon smoke in the air, festive decorations all around and farolitos glowing at night. Early winter is delightful with the bright blue sky and snow! One year we took a sleigh ride outside of town! Spring in Santa Fe is glorious with the fruit trees blooming and floral scents in the air with all the bulb flowers making their way back from winter. I keep my easel and chair in the garage for any artists to use during their stay. The adobe construction keeps the garage cool in the summer and warm in the winter! Anytime of year is great for long walks around the city admiring the architecture, and going to many of the local spas,10,000 waves and La Posada among my favorite! If you have any questions about Santa Fe email me - I consider myself a goodwill ambassador to Santa Fe and know lots of fun places to explore.

Beautiful and convenient
We had a wonderful week-long stay in this beautiful home. Comfortable and filled with beautiful art work, it made a perfect home away from home. The porch and back yard were wonderful outdoor spaces, and the living room was great for relaxation at the end of the day. Beds were very comfortable, and every amenity was provided. Large open kitchen and dining room. Having a garage (with remote opener) was very handy. Just a few blocks from the Plaza in a quiet neighborhood, it was super convenient. This would definitely be our first choice for any return visits to Santa Fe.
Thanks Brett! I’m so happy you enjoyed your stay at Artista Casita!
Wonderful Santa Fe Getaway!
We recently spent 5 days at Artista Casita and found it even more comfortable and beautiful than the photos do justice to it. It is indeed an Artist's Home and her gorgeous oil paintings, watercolors and pastels adorn every wall, giving it such warmth and colorful hominess we hated to leave.
The adobe tile floors add to the southwest feel and the fact that they are heated is even better. The decor makes it clear that you are in the southwest, with the wood beam ceilings the kiva fireplace and all the unique Santa Fe decorations, there is no question you are in New Mexico.
And the location is just great. It's so close to the Plaza, we walked to lunch or dinner every day. We're always concerned about traffic noise whenever we travel, but this is as quiet and peaceful as being in the country!
Will definitely choose this lovely place again, hoping our next Santa Fe visit will be in the summer!
Thank you for your kind words! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay! Hope you’ll revisit and enjoy Artista Casita again!
Always love the ambiance of Santa Fe wherever you go.
Thank you! It is a special place!
A very homey vacation home.
Cathy's vacation home has a very warm and welcoming feeling. Her decorations and art work is exquisite. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Cathy also provided us some very useful tips around Santa Fe.
Charming well equipped condo close to the plaza. We loved nightly sunsets on the deck.
Great spot. We would definitely put it on our return to list for future visits
Thank you Susan for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Artists Casita!
Very Nice Vacation Rental
The Artista Casita is a really nice place to stay in Santa Fe. The location, just north of the Plaza, is quite good and the Casita itself is well equipped and comfortable. The group of condos is well maintained and attractive. We did some cooking and found the kitchen very workable. The upstairs main bed was comfortable and the bathroom served us well. Nice place - recommended.
