Peaceful setting, breathtaking views and accommodating cabin!
We truly had an unforgettable week in this cabin. The drive in is incredible and feels so remote-- then you walk on to the airy porch to a glimmering lake and mountain backdrop. The cabin is very cozy and has everything you need--bedding, washer/dryer, all kitchen utensils and a Keurig coffee maker. I can't think of anything we needed they didn't provide aside from our own groceries. The outdoor area was our favorite hangout with a great firepit, 2 grills for cooking, a fun deck and game for the family. It would be a very romantic stay for a couple. We had our two kids (5 and 3) and it was perfect for us as well. We spent a lot of time just hanging out at the cabin, walking around and exploring the area. We spent a day driving around the lake and visiting Wayah Bald and another day we drove the hour and a half into Highlands to see waterfalls which was totally worth it. In the summer you could easily spend all of your days on the dock swimming and fishing in the lake. Our Thanksgiving stay was perfect for sight seeing and s'more making as well. We can't wait to come back.
Once you step inside the cabin you realize you made the perfect choice
As soon as I walked into the cabin I felt at peace. The owners left no detail unturned. I won’t give away all of the extras as you need to see it for yourself. This cabin had a lot of thought put in it to make you feel welcomed. Make my stay easy will you? You sure did! My sister is partially disabled and has trouble walking and the way the cabin is set up she had no problem with the few wide steps leading up to the cabin and also the bathroom was easy access. The bedrooms and living area all have their own sliding glass doors that lead to the huge screened in porch overlooking the lake. Breathtaking views, quiet, peaceful, off the beaten path, comfortable, dock with canoe (getting to the dock you have steep stairs leading to the water as expected since you are on a mountain), 2 grills and a fire pit and the ground is flat where you park your car right next to the cabin. The layout of the cabin is perfect. There is no service as the cabin is a true place to go and enjoy nature and getting away from it all. Great job! Thank you for sharing your place of beauty. We would love ❤️ to come back. Each day you fall more in love with the area and you discover more and more about your surroundings and the cabin.
Perfect Pocket of Peace
We cannot say enough good things about this hidden retreat. The location is superb if you are looking for a quiet hide-away. We were looking for a few days of pure relaxation, and this cabin provided an immediate stress release.
The cabin is obviously a work of love... as soon as you enter, you realize that the woodsy outdoor atmosphere is artistically reflected in every room and every little detail. Handcrafted furniture, water colors of the surrounding mountains, all come together in a huge “Wow”, as soon as you enter the home.
There are a lot of great outdoor activities in the area. Rafting, horseback riding, boating, all are available either on the lake, in nearby towns, or on routes along the Nantahala river.
After spending our days enjoying the incredible views along the Nantahala Gorge and River, it was great to come home to a quiet sunset on the huge screened in porch. The handmade furniture, the beautiful watercolors, the obvious care that went into building this special place made us feel at home and welcome. The owners have provided all the kitchen utensils, flatware, pots, pans and dishes that might be needed for cooking in house, and a great fire pit is available for evenings outside.
Having a canoe on site was an unexpected bonus, and we enjoyed several hours exploring the inlets and islands nearby. Nothing was left to chance... life jackets, paddles, tow lines are all provided. Extra outdoor chairs are available in the on-site leanto. Little touches at dockside, even to a sitting stair on the floating dock made swimming and enjoying the lake that much easier.
We are really happy we found this treasure of a vacation spot. The owners have put a lot of thought and care into making this a perfect spot in the Smoky Mountains. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who might think... “In my mind I’m goin’ to Carolina....” Do it. :-)
A Peaceful Refuge
Most times we find that photos do not actually represent a property and its surroundings. But this case was different. I think it is almost impossible to capture the loveliness of the cabin as well as the incredible views of the lake. The cabin had very comfortable beds with soft 100% cotton sheets, quilts, and ample pillows. Having two immaculate bathrooms gave each couple privacy.
We cooked at the cabin and found the smoker grill made delicious salmon. Eating on the beautiful screened porch/dining room was a favorite part of the day.
Since cell phones do not work in this part of the hills we were happy to have use of the house phone so that we could be reached in an emergency as well as a way to check on family members.
The washer/dryer gave us clean and dry clothes and towels after boating. Overall we were impressed with the new construction details, beautiful décor, and watercolors which were painted by the owner herself. Thank you for sharing this little bit of paradise with us
