About Paula Armitage

We first came to Manasota Key in the early 1990's and fell in love with this beach and this laid back little fishing town called Englewood. We spent countless hours collecting all sorts of sharks teeth and shells on the beach, watching dolphin from the shore , and even observing the sea turtles nesting and laying eggs at night. During "turtle season " we love to join the turtle patrols on the beach looking for tracks that come out of the water and then observing from a distance as the great turtles dig their nest and lay their eggs. If you are very lucky you might even catch the nest hatching and get to watch the babies find their way to the ocean! We fish on the beach catching flounder, whitefish, Spanish mackerel, snook, tarpon, pompano, among others. Sometimes we take a small catamaran and sail up and down the beach, occasionally having dolphin swim right with us for a time! We love the laid back feel of this town, and have always been delighted to find good quality food in the local hot spots.

We live in northwest Georgia , about a 9 hour drive to our beach house! We spent 30 years searching for a place on the beach to call our own , looking at a lot of places closer to home but could never find just the right spot. We have been to a lot of beaches from South Carolina to the Alabama coast, to the Georgia coast and the Florida panhandle , all of which are a shorter drive for us and would be easier access, but nothing really said home to us. Then , a few years ago, we ventured again to Manasota Key, this time with our 3 grown children , and we knew this place had to be our home away from home. We all love to fish, scuba dive, kayak, paddle board, sail, motor boat, watch the gorgeous sunsets and fall asleep listening to the ocean waves. It has been our greatest joy to share this special place with family and close friends for the last few years, and now we look forward to sharing it with you!

We absolutely loved the house!

  • 5 of 5

The house is fantastic. We had myself, my husband, my mother, and our two daughters and was plenty of room. The house sits back from the main road so there isn’t any traffic noise. The gulf is in the backyard and is so great to sit out there-we had dolphins one morning. You can access the beach and we spent every day in the water.

The house is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and is updated and plenty of room to cook. The sunroom that overlooks the backyard and gulf is the best room in the house. What a view!

There are chairs, beach towels and umbrella for the beach. We also used the two cruiser bikes and explored. Having a washer/dryer was nice so we could take carry on bags and did a load of laundry there.

Manasota Key was a great little beach town. There are a few shops and restaurants-we are at most of them and all were delicious.

We would come back to Manasota Key and this rental and recommend the house. A great find-so happy we came!

The most AMAZING place on the beach!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have admired this “little piece of heaven” for years from their beach. Once we learned the owners decided to make it available for rent, we pounced on it immediately.

Amazingly, we were able to rent it for the week of the Englewood Boat Race! (The last turn is right in front of this home). We enjoyed VIP seating from our own beachfront back yard!

With the races, fishing, kayak’s, sunsets on the beach along with the beautifully remolded house, we thought we were actually in haven. Counting the days until we go back in the spring!

Oh.... and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud. On a scale of 1 to 10, we give it a 100. 👍👌👏

Perfect Place for my R&R

  • 5 of 5

I was brought up near the coast of New England and have always loved the beach. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this quiet little haven. My days started on the swing, drinking my tea and taking in the wonders of Mother Nature. Back again in the evening to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. There were lovely walks along the beach looking for pretty shells and loving the sound of the ocean. The house was clean and comfortable and had all the amenities needed. The area has a nice variety of restaurants with all types of cuisine. I would definitely come here again.

Quite, Private and Natural Surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

This is the best getaway I’ve had in a long time. I needed the soothing sounds of the ocean and abundant wildlife. Coffee with pelicans, dolphins, manatees and hundreds of other birds are the Best of mornings. Then there are the evenings. I’ve never seen more beautiful sunsets. Have a glass of wine and relax. The house is classic “old Florida” with a modern kitchen and all the creacher comforts. I’m already planning for my next stay.
