great lake front cabin

  • 5 of 5

Just spent two glorious weeks at this cabin. brought our pontoon boat and docked it at the house. Fishing and swimming every day. The lake is crystal clear and the bass fishing was incredible. Lake water temps around 80. Cooked big family meals in the decently stocked kitchen. Got our exercise climbing the stairs from the lake. Not an easy task but good workout. Night temps around 60 made it easy sleeping. Nice deck and awning that we lowered daily helped keeping the cabin from getting too hot. Fire pit in the yard made for nice nights making smores and chilling by the fire. They let us bring our two golden retrievers who equally had a great time. Washer and dryer helped get through the week without packing a ton of clothes. Overall a really nice cabin, tv and internet for those who don't want to disconnect. Minutes from Damariscotta, salt pond and Pemaquid beach. Thank you to the Grays for letting us use your place.

What have made our stay perfect would have been House keeping in between guest. Just not clean.

  • 3 of 5

You have to just love the area. And a few moments with a coffee looking out to the lake from the deck takes the work right out of you. If your looking for a place that's clean this isn't it. And the clean the line policy before you check out was a waste of our morning. If the place has cleaning people let them wash the sheets and towels. I'm on vacation so I don't want to deal with the trash and bed making. It was a nice place to stay and go to other places. An unannounced change of furniture while we were away seemed odd and inappropriate. We'd never been to Maine and just loved it. People are very nice. Once you figure out to buy lobster cooked right at the grocery it actually is affordable. Nice overall visit.

Owner's Response: Mark, I am happy you had a nice time at the cottage in September. Great time of year with no bugs. We did agree to take care of your trash at the house that was arranged ahead of time with us. The real estate company I work with in Damariscotta have over 100 plus rentals and the owner all request you remove the trash when you leave. we dont have garbage removal service on Saturdays...... All tenants have the option of bringing linens & towels with them when the come to our cottages. If the tenants do use the linens they need to be cleaned for the next guest... My cleaning crew is organized by wife who is a nurse, I can assure everyone that the cottage is spotless.. if there is ever a problem just call our number and we will take care of it. ...You may be more comfortable at our local motels that supply more sevices than available at the cottages. Comfortable cabin in a quiet location with nice view of the lake

  • 4 of 5

The cabin pictured here was booked for the time period we needed so Ken offered the neighboring property. The cabin was nice, and we had everything we needed including a kayak and canoe. Ken was very responsive. One important factor not mentioned in the vrbo listing is that check out time is at 10:00 am and you are required to wash and dry all bedding and towels before you leave. Had we known in advance, we would have brought our own sheets and towels to use, and laundered them at home so we could spend our last morning on the lake. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Nice cabin on a Maine lake

  • 4 of 5

This log house was very nice. The house was clean and well equipped. There was a beautiful view of Biscay Pond from the deck and lots of privacy. Furnishings were great and the house was comfortable. A couple of minor negatives: The deck furniture was dirty and we spent some time cleaning it. The dock was not easily accessible. Climbing down and then up was a bit strenuous. On the plus side, any lake noise we less because we were high above it. The house included a washer and dryer which we used for linens and towels at the end of our stay, but we were disappointed that the hot water wasn't connected so cold water wash only. I left a voicemail for Ken to ask about the public beach on Biscay. He didn't return the call and we never found it.

Overall, this was a pleasant and comfortable cabin.

Owner's Response: Greg, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at the lake cottage. Sorry about the missed call, i am usually with buyer clients on Friday afternoon and didnt get the message until evening. The public beach is at the North end of the pond about 2 miles from the house. The directions will be in "Welcome Book". Deck furniture cleaning has always been a problem in Maine. If you leave the cushions out they do get covered in pollen in a couple of days..We do our best with super cleaning the interior, but the decks are a challenge. We are happy you had a nice time with the 2 person kayak and canoe at the dock. We try to make everyone's vacation a time to remember.

Comfortable quiet cottage in the woods by the pond (Lake)

  • 5 of 5

My son, his wife, their 9 month old daughter, my daughter, her husband, their 6 month old daughter, my husband and I rented this cottage for a week to be able to spend time together and to visit with other relatives in Maine. The cottage was comfortable, cozy and provided us with a great spot to come back to each night. We ate out quite a bit but when we did cook we found dishes and cookware to meet our needs. My only drawback was the rental ad said wheelchair accessible and there were steps into the cottage. Ken the owner did tell me this before we rented and I was able to bring ramps and handrails for the bathroom to accommodate my husband who is in a wheelchair. Thanks for a great week and some wonderful memories. We are building our own cottage in Maine otherwise I would already be booking for next year!

Chalet in Bristol, Maine

  • 5 of 5

My son and I rented the chalet from Mr Gray a couple of times and intend to rent again this summer too. The chalet is absolutely beautiful, spacious, great location. Access to the lake could be improved especially for older people. Also having to get rid of your own trash is a bit inconvenient. Other than that, really enjoyed the chalet and Mr Gray is a great owner open to resolving any issues or concerns.

The cottage is clean and updated with the newest furnishings as they are required. It is located on a quiet section of the lake with clean swimming area.

What makes this cottage unique

We do supply a 2 person kayak and a 16 foot Old Town Canoe for your use while you are at the lake. The paddles and life jackets are also at the cottage. You should bring children life jackets since they vary depending on age. You can paddle down the pond and go into the Pemaquid River to the south. You can paddle back to the North and go into Pemaquid Lake which is a 6 mile lake.
