Rising Sun at the Plaza
A 2,300-square- foot home that can sleep 4 people (and a canine companion too), Rising Sun at the Plaza is a beauty. But more than a stunning place in which to stay, it’s also within walking distance of Santa Fe Plaza, as well as a quick drive to the mountains. And the views are so gorgeous, you can easily forget that you’re just a
few blocks from downtown.
The great room of Rising Sun at the Plaza truly is worthy of the term. Its double-height vaulted ceiling, bountiful windows, and French doors give it an open, airy ambiance, which is accentuated by the pale walls and tiled floors. The great room has 2 seating areas: one where you can watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable and enjoy après-ski drinks by the fireplace, the other where you can curl up in an armchair to read or sprawl out on a sofa and surf the web via the free WiFi.
The dining area is just as gorgeous, with a table that can seat 8 with ease. Or you can dine alfresco, at the patio’s large table or at one of the balcony’s more intimate tables. Both the patio and the balcony are covered so that you can relax in the shade, and both look out toward the mountains. On a clear, sunny day (and Santa Fe has plenty of those!), you’ll feel as if you’re in paradise… and you just may be!
The patio has a grill as well, so you can enjoy barbecue with your margaritas. Once you see the thoroughly outfitted kitchen, though, you may opt to cook a deluxe feast instead. With its pro-quality stainless-steel appliances, wealth of cookware, gleaming countertops, and handsome cabinets, the kitchen is a chef’s dream.
If you think the kitchen is luxe, wait until you see the bathroom. You don’t usually decide on a vacation rental based on the bathroom, but Rising Sun at the Plaza’s is truly exceptional. Decorated in the same elevated Southwestern style as the rest of the home, it includes both a walk-in shower and a soaking tub—a long bath in the latter is just what your tired muscles will crave after a day on the slopes or the hiking trail. There are also dual sinks, doors that open onto a balcony, and even a sitting area.
The master bedroom is on the main floor, while a 2 nd sleeping area makes up the loft. Both have sumptuous king-size beds and separate seating areas, and because they’re on separate floors, they offer plenty of privacy. The master bedroom’s French doors open onto the patio, while the loft opens onto a balcony. Enjoy a romantic nightcap under the stars before slipping beneath the covers and drifting to sleep.
You can pack light when you stay at Rising Sun at the Plaza. Not only do we provide all the clean towels and bedding you’ll need (and the beds will be immaculately made up when you arrive, of course), but the home also has its own washer and dryer. How’s that for convenient?
And speaking of convenient, the location is superb. The Santa Fe Plaza, the Palace of Governors, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Art, Loretto Chapel, San Miguel Mission, and a trove of restaurants and shops are among the attractions within walking distance. And when you want to hike, ski, and take in the
local flora and fauna, the Randall Davey Audubon Center, Dale Ball Trails, Atalaya Mountain, and Ski Santa Fe are all less than a half-hour away by car.
Then again, once you see how luxuriant Rising Sun at the Plaza is, you may find yourself making excuses to spend the day in. And why not? It’s your vacation, so enjoy it however you want. First, though, you need to book your stay… before someone else beats you to it.
