This property was built 2003 and is built in the middle of protected wetlands loaded with wild life. It is not uncommon see deer, geese, and turkeys walking across the front of beautiful Lake Huron. The view is terrific but the water is not easily accessible for swimming due to the rising water level. Public beaches are available South and North by 6 miles.
Our hideaway is just a short two hours from Detroit, East on I-94 and North on M-25. We are minutes from golf, a movie theater, horseback riding, and have a beautiful small town for bike riding.
Beautiful house with fabulous views of Lake Huron. Well-kept path leads to the water's edge. Dave was responsive to messages/questions, and everything was as described. It was quiet while we were there, but I imagine in the peak season there are more people around.
Arrived at the Port Hope chalet after riding 80 miles on our bicycles from St. Clair. The chalet was perfect, clean and spacious with an open floor plan. Loved the deck and the beautiful view of Lake Huron. Slept well on the comfortable beds and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Great weekend!
We had an absolutely great time at this beautiful chalet. The house is very big with plenty elbow room for all of us. We enjoyed sitting down at the water and viewing the lake from the deck. Thank you Mr. Gafney. This is a vacation we will all remember.
We spent Memorial Day weekend at the chalet. After dark we used our telescope to look at Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and the stars. The location is dark enough to see deep space objects like planetary nebula as well, so it is excellent for astrophotography. We could stargaze from the chalet's lawn or down at the waterfront, where we could see almost from horizon to horizon uninterrupted.
This house is amazing in every way!! From the breathtaking views, the gorgeous lake, and the house itself. It was all perfect and completely past my expectations! I wouldn't have changed a thing. I went with 4 other people and there was more than enough room for everyone. Bottom line, if you're considering this place, look no further and just book it. You won't be disappointed!!
We stayed at the chalet at the end of June, 2013. The house was just as nice in person as it is in the photos. It was clean, well maintained, and all appliances worked well. The setting was quiet and tranquil with a mowed path heading down to the lake. The owners were friendly and helpful. It was great to all be able to stay together and have room to stretch out! We highly recommend staying here! Thank you.
