Nothing like it in the world
My husband and I had the BEST time...1 week (6 nights) in this bad boy exploring the island. The truck was clean and rugged, ran perfectly and the 4WD is awesome. The tent was clean and and comfy. Like other reviews say, there aren't many "official" campgrounds on Maui and the ones that are there are not very nice...but if you're willing to venture off the beaten path you will have the adventure of a life time. What this means is no toilets (although the owner does have a mini "portable" potty in the supplies you can use), no running water, no showers (other than the ocean and waterfalls you come across)...but you will have incredible views, black sand beaches all to your lonesome selves, and the sound of the waves (literally feet away from you) lulling you to sleep. The owner was very responsive and helpful; had some great campsites he suggested throughout the week when we texted him and we were even able to work with him to get a late checkout since he didn't have another group coming in till the next day. We came home and thought...why do all those crazy people stay in overpriced hotels with maybe a glimpse of the ocean when you could do this and literally be woken up because the ocean right outside your window is beating on the rocks too loudly. If you want to sit by the pool in the sun, go to Palm Springs. If you want to have a real adventure in Maui...rent this...but not too many of you...we want it to be available for us when we come back!!
Don't hesitate to rent this truck and get out there and explore Maui like no other hotel !! It was amazing , seeing thing that won't be offer in a tour . Everything was perfect and easy to set up . Micheal is great and helpful.
Definitely a great way to see this beautiful island !!
Thank you very much were gonna bring some amesome memories with us...
Island time on our time
We really enjoyed our week glamping and touring around Maui. The truck allows you to go all over without wondering if you can get back to the road. It came very well-equipped with different camping supplies which made our vacation even better. First time putting the tent up took us a little longer ( it was in the dark). After that night, we became real pros. Michael was very accommodating throughout the entire rental. He is a great host. Luckily, we were blessed with wonderful weather . If you want freedom and don’t mind a little effort, this is a great opportunity!
Best camping set up EVER! Thank you!
Michael was a dream to liaise with in hiring the vehicle. He was so accommodating and made us feel right at home.
We were pleasantly surprised at the amount and quality of gear provided, it made for such a splendid trip!
We’ve recommended Michael at this car tonall of our friends.
Great way to see the island if you like the outdoors.
Very cool experience and a great value. Mike is a nice guy and very informative.
Highlight of our trip!
The three nights of camping with this truck was by far the highlight of our trip. Camping on Maui was extraordinary, and this setup really allowed us to see the heart of Maui.
Mike outfits the truck with the camping essentials. The memory foam mattress was very comfortable and spacious. The tent went up and down with incredible ease and speed and the quality far exceeded expectations. The versatility of the tent was outstanding, it provided a warm shelter on the 30 degree night on the mountain and completely opened up for a warm breezy night ocean side.
Pro tip: If you have never used one of these tents, check out a YouTube video for “Tepui tent setup” before you head out. It’s very easy to setup, but even easier if you have seen how to do before you are at the campsite.
Another commenter mentioned that finding a campsite on Maui can be difficult. We had a similar experience, though Mike has some great suggestions in the listing. Absolutely recommend researching the campsites before you pickup the camper and asking Mike for his suggestions, and make sure to get specifics on the directions, as many sites are off the road and unmarked.
