1 BR, 1 BA apartment on a quiet street, easy walk/bike to downtown Durango
This quaint vintage apartment was built in 1928 and was originally used as housing for the Catholic diocese. This 900 SF apartment has 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and is dog/kid friendly. This home is tucked away on a quiet street in coveted location in "Mid-Town" Durango, walking distance to everything. This home is situated across the street from a beautiful park and the St. Columba Catholic Church. This lovingly restored apartment has plenty of character and charm. The location is 1 block from the library, 5 blocks from downtown dining and shopping and 2 blocks from the paved biking trail along the Animas river. The apartment has original hardwood flooring throughout, with tile in bath and kitchen, separate dining room, gas stove, full size refrigerator in kitchen, classic deep claw-foot tub in bathroom, queen size bed in bedroom and full size sofa bed in living area if you need room for 4 guests. There is also a lovely sun porch off of the kitchen, where you can enjoy coffee or store bikes and skis and have access to the fenced community back yard. Fully landscaped front yard surrounded with a picket fence is also a nice place to hang out while the kids play at the park across the street. Lucky Services can provide concierge service at $20/hour if you need the property stocked with food/beverages.

Why Katie Ives Sturm chose Durango
This is a really beautiful property located in the best location in town.Durango is a fantastic home base with access to the mountains, desert and rivers allowing you the ability to have fun year-round. We had vacationed in Durango many years ago and always dreamed of living here. We love this property because of it's very quiet central location with easy access to all the downtown amenities on foot, or bike. Walk to the river and it is a quick trip to the mountains or the nearby alpine lakes.
What makes this Apartment unique
Arched doorways, Santa Fe style architecture. The park across the street is super for kids and pets and picnics. The fenced courtyard behind the apartment has a shared deck for guests. The home has two steps up, but otherwise is all one level. Nice to sit out front and enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine while taking in the sun. Friendly neighborhood with mostly owners or long term renters.

Nice space, very attentive hosts
We really appreciate the hospitality demonstrated by the hosts. The space was clean and inviting. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a single-bed type of stay in Durango. Unfortunately the neighbors on either side moved out while we were there and others moved in, so there was a lot of disruptive noise late at night for a few sporadic days but it didn't take away from the experience, too much. The location is prime. We utilized the river path and library extensively.
Thanks for the good stay!
Super cute. Perfect location.
Our family spent Christmas in Durango and stayed at the apartment for three nights. Really cool littl place with all the historical quirks. The sofa bed is tiny, but my two teenage daughters managed. Would definitely stay here again and again.
Cute place that was convenient to downtown without being in downtown.
We enjoyed our visit to the Abbey Bungalow. It is a quiet street with a park across the way. The bike path that goes along the river and the train tracks is a little more then a block away. My husband and I had a couple of romantic walk in the early evening along the path and the Abbey is also close enough to be accessible to Main Street and all the restaurants, ice cream parlor and activities there. The Abbey is close to the bus stop when we want to leave our car at home and get around town or go to the ski hill. Durango is a great place to visit and the Abbey Bungalow made the visit comfortable, quiet and relaxed for my husband and I. Thank you!
Durango at it's Best!
We chose to stay at the Mid Town Abbey over all other hotel/motel options in Durango because of it's quiet neighborhood location, the closeness to the Animas River (tubing was a fun activity) the trial in Rank Park (two blocks away), hearing the coal fed steam train passing by was a thrill (highly recommend the trip from Durango to Silverton), the ability to walk everywhere we needed to was so convenient, great breakfast at Dough Works, good Mexican food around the corner,(Downtown Durango is about a 15 minute walk). The apartment was fully furnished with everything you needed to make a meal (grocery store about a ten minute drive), dinning room table and chairs for four, hang out, watch ROKU TV, sit on the front lawn and watch the kids at the park across the street, see wildlife right from your lawn (mule deer, magpies and hawks). The apartment was so clean, fresh sheets and towels, and a very nice neighborhood. I really appreciated the coffee and filters were already there for the first morning cup of coffee to get you going. I would highly recommend this location to my friends and family members and will book to stay there again on my next trip out.
Thanks for the nice comments! You we're our first guest. Glad you enjoyed your visit.
This home is located in the urban area of a resort town, about 10 blocks from downtown Durango. An easy walk or bike ride to dinner. Several grocery stores, parks, many restaurants nearby. In addition, you may drive to the Purgatory ski resort which is 26 miles away or Telluride which is about an hour and 1/2. Fly fishing is easily available in the Animas River, 1 block away.
