About Dan P Caylor
Growing up in southern Florida, I love the coast but was always drawn to the mountains. After attending college in Boone, NC, I was hooked. I decided to stay in Western North Carolina and settled here in Asheville where I spend my time as a whitewater rafting guide and custom woodworker. I love the eclectic, small town vibe, outdoor lifestyle, food scene, and having access to "big city" amenities like our growing art scene and live music opportunities. I'm thrilled to provide a space from which you can access all of this and more. Enjoy your time in my "new" hometown!

Why Dan P Caylor chose Oakley
Life in the rolling hills of Asheville allows for the peace and quiet of country living right here in the middle of the city. I love sitting on the back deck and soaking up the serenity of long range views while knowing I'm only 5-10 minutes away from downtown and the Biltmore Estate. This neighborhood has everything I was looking for with the perfect balance between convenience and solitude. I love to be part of the community but am equally as happy to rest and retreat from the grind. Living here allows for both!
What makes this House unique
The back deck is my favorite place to be. You'll find three free range chickens, and a bee hive in the fenced backyard and you can watch the action from your gated perch. Inside, the house is just big enough to host dinner gatherings but small enough to feel cozy. I love the neighborhood and you really cannot beat the convenience!

This cottage was clean and neat and close to all that Asheville had to offer. I would highly recommend you giving this place a chance. We will definitely look forward to staying there again in the future.
Quaint house on quiet street
We enjoyed our stay in this quaint house on a quiet street in Oakley area of Asheville. Just the right size for two people, the kitchen is nicely appointed with cooking gear. We had a little trouble with the TV but were able to tap into WiFi easily to watch Netflix. The back deck is a highlight with chickens and a bee hive. The fresh eggs were a delight! Very peaceful stay and close to town AND the Blue Ridge Parkway!
The cottage was cozy And the location so convenient.
The cottage was located on a very quite street a quick ride to the Biltmore Estate as well as downtown Asheville.
The cottage was pristine. The back proach was a extra pleasure. We enjoyed quite afternoons reading on this peaceful stop.
Location, location, location
We stayed at this cottage for 5 days and couldn't be happier with the location to Biltmore, Asheville and the surrounding towns. The bathroom was a bit small and we didn't realize there was a downstairs tenant, but it wasn't an issue. Nicely appointed kitchen too.
The city of Asheville requires all VRBO to have a full time tenant living on property. That’s the only way to get the required permit. This helps the housing problem in Asheville, otherwise all landlords would convert to vacation rentals. The city has serious housing issues. Thanks for understanding!
Overall Great Place
OK I have slightly mixed feelings, so let me break it down Luke Hobbs style!
Dessert: It's a DUPLEX, so you can hear someone underneath you. I have heavy footsteps and was paranoid I was making too much noise for the unfortunate individual under me. Also, not exactly the best place to stay for "romance" if you're paranoid about noise. Just being honest!
Veggies: Great location & area feels safe, very clean, quick response time to any questions/concerns, and this place looks awesome with the decor. Driveway just recently paved so it is so nice!
So yeah, that's my thoughts/review of this awesome little place! =D BTW, if you got my reference, you are so awesome!
Conveniently located and clean. Very comfortable.
Asheville is known for its farm to table food scene, nearly countless breweries, outdoor recreation, and of course the historic Biltmore Estate. Downtown boasts unique, boutique shopping opportunities, historic cobblestone streets, museums, restaurants, a vibrant buskin scene, and tons of history. For the adventure seeker, whitewater rafting, ziplining, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing are minutes away. Want a more leisurely encounter with the outdoors? Paddle boarding, floating, and still water kayaking on the French Broad might be more your style. The River Arts District offers an insiders look into working studios while live music venues offer shows for nearly every genre. Having lived in the area for over a decade, I can happily recommend the best of the best when it comes to tour operators, private guides, activities, hiking trails, restaurants, breweries, and more. Please don't hesitate to ask! I'd love to share a local's perspective with you.
