About Dan P Caylor

Growing up in southern Florida, I love the coast but was always drawn to the mountains. After attending college in Boone, NC, I was hooked. I decided to stay in Western North Carolina and settled here in Asheville where I spend my time as a whitewater rafting guide and custom woodworker. I love the eclectic, small town vibe, outdoor lifestyle, food scene, and having access to "big city" amenities like our growing art scene and live music opportunities. I'm thrilled to provide a space from which you can access all of this and more. Enjoy your time in my "new" hometown!

Why Dan P Caylor chose Oakley

Life in the rolling hills of Asheville allows for the peace and quiet of country living right here in the middle of the city. I love sitting on the back deck and soaking up the serenity of long range views while knowing I'm only 5-10 minutes away from downtown and the Biltmore Estate. This neighborhood has everything I was looking for with the perfect balance between convenience and solitude. I love to be part of the community but am equally as happy to rest and retreat from the grind. Living here allows for both!

What makes this house unique

The back deck is my favorite place to be. You'll find three free range chickens, and a bee hive in the fenced backyard and you can watch the action from your gated perch. Inside, the house is just big enough to host dinner gatherings but small enough to feel cozy. I love the neighborhood and you really cannot beat the convenience!

Overall Great Place

  • 4 of 5

OK I have slightly mixed feelings, so let me break it down Luke Hobbs style!

Dessert: It's a DUPLEX, so you can hear someone underneath you. I have heavy footsteps and was paranoid I was making too much noise for the unfortunate individual under me. Also, not exactly the best place to stay for "romance" if you're paranoid about noise. Just being honest!

Veggies: Great location & area feels safe, very clean, quick response time to any questions/concerns, and this place looks awesome with the decor. Driveway just recently paved so it is so nice!

So yeah, that's my thoughts/review of this awesome little place! =D BTW, if you got my reference, you are so awesome!

Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The house is supplied with all the necessities. Great spot, clean, comfortable and close to all of Asheville! The house is sectioned off and you could hear and feel the people who were staying below/next door. Dan was great to deal with and easy to reach. Overall I was pleased!

Perfect place for a couples getaway

  • 5 of 5

A very nice little one bedroom house perfect for a couple looking to stay very close to everything in Asheville. Very clean, quiet, and cozy. Even some drinks and a couple of eggs in the fridge for us to have. Great back deck with awesome chickens in the back yard. Probably where the eggs came from! We stayed for the weekend and couldn't have been happier with what we got. Much better that staying in an overpriced hotel downtown. It is about 10-12 min from everything by car except Biltmore which is about 5. Perfect location! Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our stay!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect home base for exploring downtown Asheville. My wife and I stayed for two nights and ubered to many of the local breweries and several restaurant hot spots over the course of the weekend. Dan's place is perfectly situated to all the happening areas around Asheville and provided everything we needed. Thanks for hospitality!

Asheville is known for its farm to table food scene, nearly countless breweries, outdoor recreation, and of course the historic Biltmore Estate. Downtown boasts unique, boutique shopping opportunities, historic cobblestone streets, museums, restaurants, a vibrant buskin scene, and tons of history. For the adventure seeker, whitewater rafting, ziplining, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing are minutes away. Want a more leisurely encounter with the outdoors? Paddle boarding, floating, and still water kayaking on the French Broad might be more your style. The River Arts District offers an insiders look into working studios while live music venues offer shows for nearly every genre. Having lived in the area for over a decade, I can happily recommend the best of the best when it comes to tour operators, private guides, activities, hiking trails, restaurants, breweries, and more. Please don't hesitate to ask! I'd love to share a local's perspective with you.
