About George Hilliker

The property was purchased with the idea of spending time away from the big city. It is truly our second home. We have decided to share it with others who want a mountain getaway with all the comforts of home.

George Hilliker purchased this cabin in 2017

Why George Hilliker chose Mineral Bluff

We lived in Alabama many years ago and owned property in the Georgia mountains. We have since retired and decided to return and enjoy the relaxation only north Georgia can provide.

What makes this cabin unique

The Bear Cabin is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city to be quiet and relaxing but close enough to go to market, shop, go to the theater or just hang out with ease. It sits in a small valley with three other cabins. The property has two springs - one of which is a tributary of Hothouse Creek, which in turn flows into the Toccoa River.

Hardwood floors & wood blinds, cozy living room, dining room, kitchen with raised counter & bar & stools.

Master bath with Jetted tub and separate shower.

Stone fireplace with new pellet stove for those crisp winter nights when you want to turn off the central heating system.

Dogwood trees along with a nice garden area. A circle driveway with lots of parking is just off the front porch.

Fannin Regional Hospital and medical facilities are close as well as churches and entertainment venues.

Very private but not isolated. The "Bear" cabin is situated on 3 acres between McCaysville and Blue Ridge Georgia just off route 60. Enjoy tubing, kayaking, white-water rafting, trout fishing and other water sports on the Toccoa River, zip lining the local canopy and boat rental on Lake Blue Ridge. See many brochures in the cabin for available seasonal activities but don't forget peaceful relaxation. THIS IS NOT A COMMERCIAL RENTAL BUT OUR SECOND HOME. average rating of 5.0 based on 4 reviews

We loved the cabin in Mineral Springs, Georgia! It was remote, but quaint, and we’ll stay again.

  • 5 of 5

The Bear Cabin was just what we were looking for. We loved the solid construction and beautiful, but modern, furnishings. My wife took the upstairs bedroom while I slept downstairs. We both remarked how up to date the kitchen was, with an easy-to-operate oven, spacious refrigerator and, best of all, a dishwasher. We could tell the cabin has been well taken care of. It was clean and oh so accommodating. We never lit the fireplace, but we did cook out on the grill one night. If you’re looking for a place with all of the amenities of home, you won’t find a better vacation spot. By the way, the cabin has a Georgia address but is less than a mile from the North Carolina border.

Owner's Response: Chuck, Thank you so much for the kind review. I apologize for the delay but we were traveling across country. We are now at the cabin. FYI Should you and your bride decide to come to the cabin again, contact us before you book. There is a discount for repeat bookings; especially during the high season. George

A jewel!

  • 5 of 5

We used this charming cabin as a base for looking for a cabin of our own. Located in an idilyc setting, the cabin was clean and very comfortable. Rocking chairs on the porch were very relaxing, with a glass of wine, at the end of the day. The cabin was so well equipped, we wanted for nothing.

I would highly recommend a visit to this little jewel!

The owner was just as wonderful as the accommodations!!

Great location!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this cabin!! It’s such a great location. The only thing I might say is, the water heater doesn’t pump out enough hot water to fill up the tub. Other than that! It was great!!!

A full set of brochures are sitting on the coffee table.. The town of Blue Ridge is a mountain mecca with a railroad that goes to McCaysville, a quaint and enjoyable rural village on the Georgia/Tennessee state line.

The restaurants in Blue Ridge are excellent. Our recommendations:

*Danielle's - French, downtown and excellent...

*Mike's Trackside - BBQ, off the beaten path but well worth it...

*Mercier Orchards - Dining and general store adventure, Take route 5 a couple miles north out of Blue Ridge

*Habanero's Fresh Tex Mex - McCaysville (actually just a step across the line in Copper Hill TN) , Best Mexican in the area...

***AND if you want to head toward Murphy NC, Stop at Herb's BBQ. You will not be sorry!
