Forest Ridge is a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired ranch house - full of natural light and surrounded by nature.

Custom-built in 1975 out of redwood and glass, this architectural gem sits on just over 6 acres of private forest in West Sonoma County's Wine Country. With approximately 5,600 square feet of indoor living space, guests have ample room to spread out. The single level floorplan includes two living rooms, formal dining, casual dining, an impeccably remodeled kitchen and a spacious yoga studio (ask about a private yoga class). Outside, the solar-heated (sunshine dependent) in ground pool, half basketball court, BBQ, hammocks, and variety of seating and dining areas make it hard to decide - inside or outside?

It's all about the attention to details - vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, mid-century modern inspired décor and original artwork. Superbly comfortable bedrooms and remodeled bathrooms - two with soaking tubs, one with a travertine and marble walk-in shower and heated floor - encourage relaxation and rejuvenation. Stroll through the property and say hello to the 141 redwood trees or try "forest bathing" in one of the three hammocks suspended in a grove. Whether you are looking for a corporate retreat or family adventure, Forest Ridge will steal your heart!

The towns of Occidental, Freestone, and Graton, home to bakeries, world-renowned Osmosis Spa, local cheese, excellent restaurants and wineries, are all minutes from the house.

Know Before You Book:

Damage Waiver: The non-refundable damage waiver included in the reservation charges replaces a standard security deposit. The damage waiver covers unintentional damages to real or personal property of the rental unit that occur during your stay. The policy will pay a maximum benefit of $3000.00. Any damages that exceed $3,000.00 will be charged to the guest directly. The damage waiver plan does not cover replacement of missing items, additional housekeeping charges, intentional damage or gross negligence, or damages resulting from a violation of the rules outlined in the Russian River Vacation Homes guest agreement. To ensure that you are not charged for any damages, you are responsible for reporting any accidental damages to Russian River Vacation Homes in a timely manner.

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours:

The maximum occupancy is 8 people. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking:

There is parking for 2 cars parked in in the driveway and 2 more behind the garage. The garage is not available for cars. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes:

Master bedroom #1: Cal King bed; Master bedroom #2: Queen bed; Third bedroom: Queen bed; Fourth bedroom: Queen bed; Fifth bedroom: Queen bed.

Heat Source:

Central heat with additional baseboard heaters, wood burning fireplace, woodstove, and pellet stove.

Road to Forest Ridge:

Part of the access to the house is a narrow one-lane, country road. It is paved and no special vehicle is required. We provide detailed written driving directions to confirmed guests.

Stairs & Paths:

Once inside the house there are no stairs. There are several steps into and out of the house at each door and most of these are stone and concrete. Paths closest to the house and around the pool are paved. The rest are cleared of branches but allowed to remain somewhat wild.

Office Hours and Booking Information:

Our office is open from 9 am to 5 pm every day, excluding major holidays.

After making a booking and confirming their security deposit vs. damage protection preference, guests will be sent arrival instructions and a contract with our terms in detail to sign and return. You will be contacted within 24 hours of making your reservation.

No same-day reservations past 2 pm. It should not happen, but in case the system is allowing you to book for same-day arrival and it is after 2 pm, please reach out to us. If it is after 5 pm, please do not complete your reservation; no one will be available to process your reservation and prepare for your arrival.

Fencing:

The yard is partially fenced. Deer are known to wander through the property.

Proximity to Wineries:

Littorai, Boheme, Freeman Vineyards, Small Vines, and Marimar Estate all have tasting rooms within 2 to 3 miles of the house.

Nearest River Beach:

The nearest river access is at the Monte Rio Public Beach is 9.3 miles (approx. 20 minutes) from the house.

Nearest Ocean Beach:

Doran Beach (one of our favorites) is 11.6 miles (approx. 20 minutes) from the house.

About Russian River Vacation Homes

We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.

Our Story:

In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

You're less than 15 minutes from Graton, Sebastopol, and Occidental, and 20 minutes from the coast! There's so much to see and do here, you'll want to make staying at Forest Ridge an annual tradition!

This place is really beautiful and huge! The hammock in the grove of trees was incredibly relaxing. All of the rooms are good sized and the yoga room is a great place to sequester the kids. The pool looked nice and was perfect for a polar plunge, but even the kids couldn't stay in for more than a compulsory jump. Compared to similar sized places in wine country this place was a great deal even with the cleaning fee.

You're just a short drive from tranquil Osmosis Day Spa, and from Miramar Estate's beautiful winery, who both have special offers for our guests! Both Graton and Occidental have special shopping and restaurants. Within 10 minutes of the home! Canoes and Kayaks can be rented locally from King's Sport and Tackle year round, and seasonally from Johnson's Beach and Monte Rio Beach. Water Trek Eco Tours rents boats in Jenner, along with providing guided excursions. Burke's Canoe provides pick up service after a day floating down the river during the summer months.

You are roughly halfway between two east/west arteries: Occidental Road to the north and Bodega Highway to the South. The two nearest towns – Freestone to the South and Occidental going North and West – are approximately 3 miles.

In Freestone, you’ll find the well-loved Wildflour Bakery. Throngs of City day trippers stop there on Saturday and it is only open Friday through Monday. Across the street is Osmosis Spa - known for its cedar enzyme baths, rarely seen outside of Japan, and meditative gardens. Just a bit further down the road is Freestone Artisan Cheese, a local favorite shop with handcrafted cheeses, and sundry products like nuts and olive oils, honey and chocolates.

In Occidental, you will find a charming hamlet chock a block with shops and restaurants. Howard Station Café is a terrific spot for breakfast. Howard was a Danish sailor who jumped ship to join the gold rush and “somehow” acquired the land that is now Occidental. Granting the new North Pacific Coast Railroad the right of way through his property he was granted a free, lifetime railroad pass and the station was marked with the sign “Howard’s.” The café walls are covered with old photos and maps. There is a farmer’s market in Occidental every Friday 4pm ‘til dusk, June through October.

For fine dining, a little known favorite is Fork Roadhouse. It is two miles East on Bodega Highway. It looks beat up and unpretentious on the outside but serves stellar locally-sourced New American fare. For dinner and Sunday Brunch, you will want to make reservations.

Best grocery store: Andy’s. Take Occidental Road to Highway 116. Turn right on 116 and it is about a half mile on the left.

Best fun thing: Ziplining the Redwood tree tops. Sonoma Canopy Tours, just west of Occidental. Reservations required.

Fastest way to the Coast: Bodega Highway

Most adventurous and spectacular way to the Coast: Coleman Valley Road west out of Occidental. Note of caution: GPS will not help you here; this is a meandering rural road that traverses very steep hills and can feel more like a goat trail than a road (no RVs). In fact, you are likely to encounter goats on the road, but on a clear day the views are amazing.
