About Sara

I am a registered nurse and have a private practice in Healing Touch and Craniosacral Therapy. I was a Rehab Nurse for 10 years in the coal mines in 3 states. My first career was a social case worker. I also own a consignment business. I enjoy sharing this delightful cottage with my guests.

Sara purchased this house in 2007

Why Sara chose Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock and the High Country region is very beautiful. These are the oldest mountains in the world. There are lots of outdoor activities and friendly people. The cottage is centrally located near Boone and Blowing Rock.

What makes this house unique

It is great to hear the little creek that wraps around the cottage. Children enjoy playing in the creek. I am pet friendly. You can see lots of birds, chipmunk, deer and raccoon from the cottage. It is cozy and relaxing and I try to be flexible with my guests and their needs.

Perfect Couple's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Adorable cabin! Just right for a couple- make sure you don't have height issues; the only bed is in a loft the top of a spiral staircase. We had everything we needed, plenty of towels and blankets- we stayed on a bitter cold and snowy long weekend, and the cabin was warm and cozy. Sara even had supplies to help out with the icy driveway! You can spend hours just staring out at the birds and other wildlife that come by. Great walking and running trails just a couple miles away for those who want to get moving. Perfectly situated between Boone and Blowing Rock so you have everything you need if you must leave. We can't wait to stay again!

Charming woodland cottage

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, which had large windows to view the nature around us. We found the kitchen accommodating. The location was very convenient to walking trails and Blowing Rock, and it was great to have our dog with us. Our only reservation is that we found the mattress in the loft uncomfortable for ourselves.

Peaceful location in the woods

  • 4 of 5

It is good for a short stay such as 2 nights. It was quite warm and made for some uncomfortable sleeping. Prpobably better in other seasons,

It was overall secluded, yet convenient to attractions. However it was not a comfortable place.

This particular cottage had a very damp feeling. It smelled like a basement. I understood that there was no air conditioning, which does not concern me in Blowing Rock. However, the dampness of this house at least needed dehumidifiers going full time. It has taught me to ask more questions - What level is the bathroom on? Are pets allowed? What is the size of your tv screen? and so on.

Owner's Response: Apparently you did not read the listing .It states small tv and bathroom upstairs. Also I ask renters to review the property on arrival and if unhappy contact me immediately for a refund instead of staying and leaving snarky reviews.I give you a 0 as a guest.

Great little rustic cabin in the woods.

Sweet little cabin. The earlier reviews are accurate. Convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock, the Parkway, and yet you can feel away from it all. Good value. We enjoyed our stay.

Close to town and nature

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly situated little cabin in the woods. My family had a great time. Despite all the rain, we still got out and hiked a bit. Close to Linville cavern/ falls. Really close to all the local trails. Loved that stores were close by to grab the few things we forgot to pack. All linens were provided. Bed was comfortable. The little brook was delightful. My kids loved watching the birds and chipmunks as much as our dog did.
