Welcome to the historic Creamery Cottage, built in 1915 for the foreman of the old Point Reyes Creamery in the days when butter was king in this town. The railroad, which gives us the 'Station' portion of our name, ran right by our home taking butter, Russian River redwood, and passengers to San Rafael. Across Mesa Road from us is the old historic engine house (locally known as the 'Green Barn') where standard guage locomotives were once exchanged for the narrow guage engines required for the run up to Russian River. You can enjoy authentic photos of this time in our history in the second bedroom of our home.
The days of chugging engines are long gone in Point Reyes and now you couldn't imagine a more tranquil setting for your stay in glorious West Marin. Set on a quiet and private half-acre of roses, natives plants, lavender and fruit trees, near the heart of the Village, our immaculately preserved Craftsman Period home beautifully evokes old California.
The comfortable and stylish interior of our two-bedroom CREAMERY COTTAGE is furnished with antiques and has all the comforts of home: fully-equipped kitchen, dining room with built-ins, piano in sunroom, small study, and elegant living room. LUXURIATE IN OUR COYUCHI ALL-COTTON ORGANIC SHEETS, TOWELS, AND ROBES, as well as our state-of-the-art new CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM (rare in West Marin)! Enjoy the view of Inverness Ridge from our dining room table. Pick seasonal fruits in our garden: apples, cherries, figs, peaches, pears, plums, and blackberries. After a hike in the National Seashore, put your feet up and read a book in our warm and cozy living room, or relax on the deck overlooking a lovely fountain courtyard. Have a picnic in the pretty rose, sage, and lavender-scented garden.
Walk over to the main street of one of California's most charming small towns and savor the 'foody' delights of our renown Farmer's Market, Bovine Bakery, the Station House Cafe, Stellina restaurant, and Cowgirl Creamery. Enjoy world class music at the Dance Palace or browse in one of the best bookshops in Northern California. This is an ideal spot for those who like to balance a wilderness experience with some style and comfort. And because we offer significant discounts for stays of longer than a week or month, this would be an ideal retreat for writers or artists.

We are a family of four who live in the San Francisco East Bay, but have deep roots in West Marin. Creamery Cottage is our family home and dear to our hearts. We love to learn how our guests are also touched by this place.
Andrew Walmisley purchased this house in 2003
I have had a life long passion for the Point Reyes area. This house is perfect for us because it is close to the wilderness, yet charming and comfortable. We also love our beautiful garden, which can be enjoyed year-round. The location of the house is ideal and we take pleasure in just strolling over to the town's main street to get the New York Times, a pastry at the Bovine, and a latte at Toby's Feed Barn. We often go walking by Papermill Creek in the early evening. That is, by the way, a great place to go blackberrying!
I love walking into town to 'talk story' with local people; eating bear claws at the Bovine Bakery; browsing in the book shop; walking by Papermill Creek; hiking the trails of Point Reyes; going to the beach at Hearts Desire.
This is the 2nd Christmas we have stayed at the cottage - clear and cold - great food lots of family time. Andrew has been a prefect host - dealing with odd variables given our unique situation -we come from overseas and things never run smoothly. We have also stayed in the summer to explore the national sea shore and the farm to table thing. Really wonderful.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed a weekend-stay at this lovely cottage, which is walking distance from "downtown" Pt. Reyes Station. The garden, with its lush apple trees, flowers, and veggies, is an added, special treat.
Super cute and comfy. We are returning guests and will surely be back.
It was so great to be back to Tomales Bay and Point Reyes and this place made everything x100 better. Cool, authentic and inspiring craftsman house, cozy garden behind it, delicious apples warmed by sun and smelling like ones from my childhood... I'd highly recommend this place either for romantic getaway or for family stay. Lots of fun and inspiration.
Beautiful, large home and yard with character. Loved all the windows, antiques, sunroom and mudroom. The enormous yard has a multitude of fruit trees, flowers, fountain and a wild but "cared for: look. Our two 9 year old granddaughters loved to play in the yard and climb in the tree. We had to call them in for meals. We had a minor problem with plumbing which was responded to even though the owner was in Hawaii. He made sure that we were comfortable and satisfied, it all worked out. We would stay there again!
This cottage was exactly the cozy, welcoming retreat we needed! Andrew provided us with all the comforts of home including fresh local milk, coffee, cookies, an extensive guide book, and fine linens. You can easily walk anywhere in town from the cottage. I would stay here again anytime. This place holds a very sacred place in our hearts! Thank you so much.
Pt. Reyes Station has a great deal of character. With superb food, cultural activities, and shopping, it is an ideal base for exploring the vast wilderness of the Point Reyes National Seashore.
