Good views, checkout policy could be better

  • 3 of 5

My family stayed here for a long weekend in fall. The location and views are great! Right from the living room you can see the colorful hills on a clear day. The front yard is superb and we spent a very nice evening drinking wine on the swing. It's very close from the town center and all the stores etc, but well tucked in on a side road so you still get that away from civilization sort of feeling.

What I didn't like was the checkout policy that was provided after making the booking. We were expected to wash the linen and towels and remake the beds! We have lived at a lot of such rentals and I haven't heard this ever before. You are expected to gather towels and linens in washing machine and leave, at most. But wash and dry and fold and remake bed was a bit much. It disrupted our last day planning such that we had to shower early and make time to run the washing cycle and remake beds, and I definitely wouldn't have booked this place if I knew of this beforehand. The refund policy also doesn't allow for much wiggle room so once you book, you don't have much choice. The cleaning and maintenance fee is charged as part of booking so I didn't quiet understand why the additional expectations from guests.

Also minor things like water pressure etc was a bugger. If you intend to cook, carry a frying pan since we only found pots. Also don't forget soaps and shampoo etc.

Overall a good place if you don't mind some extra work.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you injoyed the house. I wish you would have given me a call or sent a text on the issues you had. There were new frying pans under the stove, and I would have been happy to work something out with you a the check out policy. Thanks again Don

Visiting Vermont

Plenty of room for a large family. It was just my husband and myself but we enjoyed our stay. Gaylan went beyond making our stay good.

Great home! Clean and the views are beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just got home yesterday and I'm already missing the mountain air. This home is very clean, which of course is always a concern when it's a pet friendly rental. Property is well maintained. Owner was quick to respond when I had a question. Definitely need a car. Much to do in the area. Hiking, pretty covered bridges, Emerald Lake was very nice and clean. I was with my husband and 2 older children. House had ample room and I think the area of Manchester is suited for older kids rather than little ones. Great organic farm across the road. Sunday they had pizza and a couple of bands. Lots of fun!

Fine, but key components missing

  • 3 of 5

I loved being in Manchester, and the house was fine, but missing some very crucial things. First, the bathtub does not work. The lever for the drain was not there, and we could not draw a bath for our kids. After a day on the mountain, it would have been nice to bathe our children. Second, two of the bedrooms are advertised as having two twin beds. This is true, but it should have been stated that one of the rooms was a trundle bed. That is fine for kids, but I would not have rented the house if I knew an adult would be sleeping on the floor on a trundle. Fine for a short weekend, but I would have been upset if we spent more than a day and a half in Vermont.

Owner's Response: Thanks again for the rental. Sorry about the bathtub, there is a stopper for it under the bathroom sink. I wish you had given me a call I could have let. You know where it was. Thanks Don
