Beautiful, conveniently placed. Perfect for family trips!
Loved our stay. The pictures don't do this place enough justice. It was beautiful and lol literally right down the road from Rock City and Ruby Falls!! Would definitely recommend this house to a anyone !
My husband and I spent three nights in this wonderful bungalow in the historic St. Elmo district. It’s tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We felt at home from the moment we entered.
Our host, Kyle, is delightful and very responsive. There was a slight hitch with the internet service—stemming from the provider, NOT the devices in the bungalow—which she promptly addressed. By the time we returned from dinner, our service was restored. Not an easy task as anyone who has dealt with an internet provider knows. Bravo, Kyle!
We loved the location of our lodgings. It’s close to a grocery store, restaurants, and the parking lot of the Incline Railway. Our drive to Ruby Falls was an easy and scenic 8 minutes. Fantastic!
The St. Elmo district is also an easy drive to downtown. We explored downtown our first day and fell in love with Chattanooga! It’s an easy town to navigate, very walkable, and filled with friendly people, fabulous food, and great sights. One piece of helpful info: the closer to the aquarium, the more expensive the parking. An all day pass at the parking area adjacent to the aquarium is $12. The parking ramp next to the Choo Choo Hotel is $4.00 and there are free shuttles running continuously to take you all over the downtown area. Be sure to stop at the Tourist Center to get maps, brochures, and lots of local info.
We highly recommend this bungalow. If we are so fortunate as to have another extended period of time to spend in Chattanooga, we will definitely try to book here.
Great home base for biz travel
We stayed during a recent professional convention. It was so nice to come "home" instead of being stuck in a chain hotel. The attention to detail in renovation and decorating was far superior to any other VRBO I've visited. Downtown Chattanooga was a 10 min - $7.50 UBER ride. And the best part - after our 6 hour drive, we walked in to find wine and beer:) The only drawback is the steep set of stairs to get in. As long as you don't have physical impairments, you ought to be fine.
Beautiful, Comfortable, Fun
We had a perfectly lovely time as a couple, though there was plenty of room for a few kids to have stayed as well. They added sweet touches to our stay and all was made plush and comfortable.
Warm and welcoming historic bungalow in St. Elmo
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hawkins Bungalow. My husband, daughter, dog and I came to town for a family funeral. We made reservations one day and arrived the next. Despite the last minute plan, our host responded immediately with a welcoming email and sent a detailed text with information we needed as we were on our way. The historic bungalow is furnished tastefully and simply. Two bedrooms with queen beds and a third room with a futon/couch for sleeping. Loads of pillows, soft duvets, mirrors in each bedroom and a TV in the master. We were impressed by both the inclusion of a stacked washer/dryer and the wide selection of excellent books throughout the house. The kitchen is beautiful with a large bar, two bar stools, and separate table that seats four. Our hosts supplied coffee along with a coffee pot/timer. There was a handwritten card and wine and ale that greeted us - a very generous and kind offering - especially with our last minute reservations. During our stay, the water was shut off due to construction down the road. Neither our hosts nor we were advised. Then, the water wasn't turned on again. Our host, Kyle, responded quickly to our requests for help, stayed in touch with us to be sure the water had come back on when the water company said it would (it hadn't) and even sent a plumber out the next morning to rectify the problem. Our hosts refunded one night's stay for our inconvenience and even offered to pay for our breakfast out that morning. We have occasion to come to the area a couple of times each year and look forward to staying at the Hawkins Bungalow again!
Cute house in a great location!
My fiance and I and our dogs really enjoyed our stay. We wish we had more than just a weekend to spend in the area. The house is in a great location and the nearby walking trails are ideal for taking dogs for a walk. The house is very comfortable and has all the amenities you could possibly need. When we return to Chattanooga for a longer stay our first step will be to book our stay here.
