Our cabin is also our primary residence. We will stay at our townhouse when you come stay at the cabin. The cabin has 3 BR's and 2 Bathrooms and is 2200 sf. We currently have one queen bed, one double bed, and a queen upstairs in the master bedroom. We can sleep six and prefer that to be our absolute maximum number of guests.
JD"s Cabin is located on our several hundred acre farm. It's a great rental for people coming to town for barn weddings or who want to experience Nashville while "living" in the country.. You can be in downtown Nashville in under an hour.
We have an area where you can shoot pistols, or skeet with shotguns, or sight in your rifles for hunting (please, no semi- or full-automatic weapons). We have a couple of ponds that offer a great chance to catch and release bream and bass.
The main part of the cabin was built in 1972 by JD McClurkan and his wife, Alda Mai. JD was in the electrical business and built the cabin out of electric/telephone poles. He was a smart, creative, hard-working man - as you will see by the cowbell doorbell, the awesome front door, and the wagon wheel lights in the kitchen. He lived in Nashville and he figured out a way he could call the farm so that the phone would signal for hay to be dropped down to feed his cows.
In April 2018, we remodeled the kitchen with new appliances, cabinets and counter tops, and we added a full glass exterior door. In February 2018, we installed a new HVAC system. In Sept 2017, we remodeled the living area with barnwood, metal, and a painted floor. The prior owners added on to the cabin in 1992 with a very large kitchen, 2 additional BR's and BA's. We installed barnwood upstairs, new paint, and new carpet. There's a great fireplace to enjoy.
You will probably see deer and turkey out of the windows or when you drive in the .3 mile long driveway.
You can get a decent phone signal from Verizon. We do have a TV with DirecTV, a dvd player, plenty of board games and books (that we hope remain in the cabin haha), miles of trails for walking/hiking, and several ponds filled with bream and bass,.
The cabin has central heat and air, well water, microwave vent hood, propane stove/oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. There is a ping-pong table and plenty of board games and books.
This is a non-smoking unit. Log cabins do not do well with fire.
No pets, please.
Due to the age and uniqueness of the cabin, we do have some special requests for guests to embrace in order to preserve and protect the cabin and its infrastructure such as: please take "RV showers" (water on to get wet, water off while soaping and shampooing, water on to rinse, and done) so that we don't over-stress the septic system, etc. Please see attached Guidelines.
Come stay with us in JD's Cabin at Woodrick Farms.
